Breaking news: The European Commission is issuing burner phones and basic laptops to some US-bound staff to avoid the risk of espionage — a measure traditionally reserved for trips to China www.ft.com/content/20d0...

British Steel slimmed down its operations in the North East after Reform UK's Richard Tice's company threatened to hike the rent on their facility.

Is there a limit to the number of Executive Orders that can be issued in 1 Year / Term by a US President?

On the tariff front, this doesn’t get discussed much in the news. But the President has zero power to do tariffs. Entirely a Congress power. There is a law which allows the President to impose tariffs on an emergency basis. All of this is based on that law.

www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/w... Fascinating... I'm no economist but it strikes me that Trump underestimates the level of antagonism he has created in CAN / EU / UK / AUS. I don't see them bending

Imagine being Europe and reading this

Vance: UK importing too much cheap labor. From 2020-22, people born outside US made up 68% of US crop farmworkers. Almost 1/3 of US construction workers are foreign-born (up to 40% in Texas and California). Vance knows this. Rationalizing blatant hypocrisy is the point.

I just signed the petition to to demand the Government tax the super rich to rebuild our NHS, schools, and other public services. Will you sign too? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/pr...

Paying tribute to John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway DFC, the last pilot from the Battle of Britain, who passed away in Dublin last night, 17 March 2025, aged 105. Paddy also served at Dunkirk, & during the Normandy campaign, & was shot down 4 times during the war. #peraduaadastra #lestweforget

LET IT GROW ... ... Canada (UK & Commonwealth) in EU to strengthen all individual states against physical and economic war and aggression ... an EU with a common defence ...

Seeing a gradual slide from people who pay attention from "I'm not sure its ethical to visit the US now" to "I'm not sure it's safe to visit the US now."

I suggest we let Trump have his petulant tariff rants and kist quietly stop buying US products in the UK & EU, swapping them out for Canadian products... hard to do in the short term, but worth it to get away from the tactics of a bullying "friend" #tariffs

When Trump was sworn in, Elon Musk's corporations were under more than 32 investigations conducted by at least 11 federal agencies. Most of the cases are now closed or likely to be closed soon, and the federal agencies are being defanged by DOGE. Funny how that works, huh?

How long until Zelenskyy asks China how much they would pay for the mineral rights?

There is a huge opportunity for UK growth, by enticing the best science minds (esp the top Females) to come and work in the UK and get away from the anti-DEI nonsense in the US

I absolutely love how quickly Canadians started placing signs in their businesses to discourage customers from buying any American products and I also love how Prime Minister Justin Trudeau specifically targeted Red States in retaliation. I love you Canada, I’m rooting for you.

I read that part of Trump’s grievances with the EU is that it doesn’t buy enough American cars and food… perhaps if the cars fit European roads, were better built and designed, and the food had less crap in it he might have a point…

Really struck today by how many of the people most responsible for the Brexit shitshow were actively rewarded for their stupidity/dishonesty. Knighthoods, Damehoods, peerages, newspaper columns, seats in the House of Commons… It’s a mark of how deep the rot has gone into the fabric of our society.

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

We're seeing a toxic surge of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric on GB News. This is what advertisers such as Sky are enabling. If Ofcom continues failing to enforce its own rules, then MPs need to step in and hold it to account. bylinetimes.com/2025/01/31/g...

"For all the easy, cheap nonsense being peddled - changes 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 made." Andrew Norfolk confirms Keir Starmer "completely changed the rules" as DPP to help prosecute grooming gangs - directly countering Musk's claim of a coverup. @maitlis.bsky.social @lewisgoodall.com
