Probably one of my favorite first-generation French jets, the Arsenal VG70, studied since 1945, was an experimental wooden aircraft for learning about swept wings.

In 1975 Boeing proposed the 747 (as KC-33A) for the US Air Force Advanced Cargo Transport Aircraft (ACTA) program. It also included midair refueling capacities here demonstrated (using the Boeing 747 prototype) with a B-52 bomber. Boeing lost the bid against the McDonnell Douglas KC-10A. #Aircraft

In 1959, Sud Aviation worked on a project for a 40-seater version of the Caravelle, called "Bébé-Caravelle" or "Micro-Caravelle". It was to have been powered by two Rolls Royce RB.140 engines, but the project was abandoned in favour of a new version of the 'standard' Caravelle.

French Microjet 200, powered by two 1.3 kN Microturbo turbojets, first flew in June 1980. The prototype, seen here, was constructed of wood. Three pre-production Microjets were of mixed construction. Project failed to gain interest and only 4 were produced. #Aerospace #Aviation

Trump’s ‘idiotic’ and flawed tariff calculations stun economists

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

The experience described by Wilmore of flying Starliner amid its thruster failure was nothing short of harrowing.
