There are a lot of things so fucked up about these irl events, but one of them is just that...really? *This* fic? Apart from some of that initial comedy and a few creative hooks, the fic wasn't even well-written! If you're going to kill people over a fanfic, can't it at least be a good one?

But then it just got annoying and most of the initial comedy dropped off. It soon became an authorial soapbox (which makes a lot more sense now) and lost most of the HP world and characters I enjoyed in fic, so I stopped reading it. Mind-boggling to learn what kind of bullet I'd dodged.

I remember reading that fanfic when I was a teen. I was wary of the premise because Harry's background was so different I felt like I wasn't even reading about Harry Potter, but it was popular so I gave it a shot. At first it was funny and it made good use of some plot- and loop-holes in HP lore.

I think part of it is surprise that any journalism is actually happening at all.

For those who don't know the geography of L.A., that general area holds so much of historic value: the Hollywood sign, Hollywood and Sunset Blvds (Madame Tussaud's, TCL Chinese Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Dolby Theater), the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Bowl... It's terrifying. 2/2

That's because it's satire.
