It was always questionable that the Rangers’ roster and style would be good enough to win a Cup, and that was when all their top guys were under 30. This core aged out fast and the roster needs a complete overhaul.

Attending my second game of the season tonight. Last time was the first game after the Trouba trade, tonight’s the first after the Lindgren trade. Guess I should get to some more games if the Rangers need to trade some underperforming players.

The Rangers have lost plenty of games like that - where they’ve played well enough to win, but haven’t - but the problem with them is that tonight’s type of effort only shows up like once a week. If that was their standard, they’d have a much better record. Just not their year.

Insane the extent to which the Rangers just cannot dictate a game… any game… against any opponent. This isn’t just borne out in xG numbers, though those are obviously a good indicator. Feels like they’d get worked by an AHL team right now.

It’s seasons like this that remind you that being a sports fan is far closer to addiction than we all would like to admit. I was ready on Saturday to not watch another Ranger game until next October, and by Sunday evening we were singing the goal song with our kids after Fox scored.
