Apologies for absence. I have my head down over my edits as my deadline of March 1st looms up from the horizon. I'm on the last push now on my second book about Joan of Kent, begun in The Royal Rebel.

My Research shelf. Medieval Children by Nicholas Orme. In 1509 children are learning to translate the below phrases from English to Latin: 'Thou stinkest', 'Thou art a false knave', 'Thou art worthy to be hanged', 'Thou art a blab', 'Turd in thy teeth.' 'He is the veriest coward that ever pissed.'

This came up on my memory page on another forum and always makes me smile. Evidence of canines doing the pre-wash since 1308, (Giotto) and of cats displaying their disdain for such goings on.
