Sorry, I was trying to respond to a long series of reposts just repeating the same thing that you reposted, all by Humanists UK. As a relative newcomer to bsky I didn't realise that I wasn't replying to them at all. Just delete my reply please, thanks.

The Anthropocene has been superceded by The Inanity.

Why do people at senior levels in government tend to use such weak descriptions, or ionic litotes like this, when describing behaviour of ignorance and denial? The failure to accept the truth of climate change is both totally irrational and a visceral rejection of the absolute necessity of change.

I was looking forward to this, but the road crash that is Macrohard's Teams s**tware held me up at the start and then I couldn't see Dr Muthukrishna on screen. Unfortunately he speaks very fast and uses densely detailed slides, so understanding was limited. Zoom platform is more user friendly!

Leaving these groups can be a monumental challenge, fraught with isolation, stigma, and a host of difficulties that can result in homelessness, violence, or abuse. Established to tackle these challenges, our helpline provides a safe, confidential, and empathetic space. humanists.uk/2024/02/21/h...

James, that's almost as good as one of the handaxes I made at your workshop in October. Wishing a profitable and merry Xmas to you and Emma.

My PhD research project may result in a conclusion that affects thinking about language evolution ideas, so I'd like to be in this group if possible. Thanks.

Yes please. I am very interested in collapse of civilisations and have my own theories to validate when my current PhD research is finished. Particularly interested in the emergence of elites as a part of both civilisation creation and collapse.

When I was there in September there were guards stopping us taking photos like that at Karahantepe. Hopefully she'll get to the fabulous archaeological museum in Sanliurfa as well.

I think they are rather popular with pompous Oxonian intellectuals, but you aren't one of those are you.

Re: earlier comments on journalism. Can we tell one story without perpetuating our other narratives that are the part of our context of that story? Does all (non-scientific) storytelling do this by default? Is this what inevitably happens in journalism?

I agree with @stuartarnell.bsky.social . AI has no concept of truth and it has no conscience or interest in other’s views of its output based on its reliability, reputation, veracity or validation. AI is indifferent to its environment, physically and socially - humans have no basis in trusting it.
