Great ideas. The Dems are in a hopeless state of disarray. Also, we cannot appeal effectively to voters. For instance, we have a Senate leader who is 74 years old and has absolutely no telegenic skills.

Makes sense. American voters are concerned about every day economics. The question then becomes why have progressive Democrats been waging culture war instead of keeping the focusing on working class dollars and cents issues.

Abigail warned Joe Biden, he did not listen, and now we are in MAGA hell. Abigail cautioned “Nobody elected him to be F.D.R., they elected him to be normal and stop the chaos,”

Unfortunately, Trump does seem energized. When people are in the neighborhood of 80, they can be pretty sharp or pretty limited. The reality is Joe Biden, when compared with Trump, tragically was in poor shape. It is shocking that there was not real resistance to Biden running for a second term.

Your point is great. The problem is that the current Dem. Party leadership cannot effectively communicate with the public. They can send out endless cookie cutter fundraising messages. But effective policy communication is not something Martin, Schumer, and Jefferies can deliver right now.

Not a lot of bravery out there right now.

No. I certainly do not miss him. Joe’s incompetence and selfishness opened the door to the MAGA nightmare we are now living.

Joe Biden’s incompetence and selfishness opened the door to this MAGA nightmare. Where would we be today if Joe Biden had gracefully chosen not to run for another term?

To hell with Biden. He got us into this mess. What if he had shut down the border chaos in June 2021 rather than waiting until June 2024? What if he had gracefully declined to run for a second term? Instead he and his wife were shockingly self absorbed. Good riddance.

Now here’s a good post. We need to appeal to working folks, veterans, farmers, etc. Stop worrying about the sensibilities of the progressive elites. That’s what got us into this mess.

@kenmartin.bsky.social enough with the unimportant congratulatory posts. Get to work fighting MAGA.

Ken, you say our party has a “messaging problem” - you just don’t get it. We have a substantive policy problem. We have a platform built for coastal progressives. We have a platform designed for Boston, Seattle, San Francisco and Queens. Strip out all planks that a Midwest farmer would not like.

Chuck, you are Biden 2.0. The Democratic Party leadership needs to stop functioning as a retirement home. Step down.

What is this? We need our Democratic Party leader in the Senate focused full-time on addressing the unfolding illegal takeover of our system by MAGA. Chuck, you are 74, ineffective, and you need you to leave the leadership now. No more Biden fiascos. Resign.

Ken, you are not what the Democratic Party needs right now. You were pushed through by state chairs to protect the status quo. We need the absolute opposite.

You need to be a more effective spokesman for our party and the opposition to Donald Trump.

You should step down. We need a more effective communicator in your position.

I gave a great deal to the party in the past. There will be no more money from me until we have an investigation of what went wrong in 2024. That investigation must include an examination of all people involved including Joe Biden and why the party was not transparent about his declining condition.

Feinstein stayed too long. Biden stayed too long. Schumer has stayed too long. Knowing when to leave is really important in life.

Very well said. Chuck just needs to resign from the leadership. Knowing when to go is important. I’m tired of the Bidens and Feinsteins of the world. Please leave the leadership of the Senate.

Chuck, you need to go. We need a new minority leader in the Senate who can more effectively lead us. Please don’t do the Biden approach of staying too long. Time to go.

He needs to remember that his job is to win national elections, and not curry favor with the god-awful progressive wing of our party that leads us to disaster again and again.

What we need is the CPC to stop being the problem. During the border chaos of 2021 to 2024, we needed Joe Biden to address the public demand for forceful immediate action. The CPC did everything it could to stop that executive action - until Joe finally acted in June 2024. The result was Trump 2.0.

Where is the urgent litigation seeking injunctive relief? Where are the compelling press conferences that will sway the public? Chuck is not the person for this mission or this time. We need telegenic and pragmatic Congressional leaders who are not from the northeast or CA. We need broad appeal.

I’m very concerned about Chuck Schumer’s handling of things in the last two weeks. I know he’s there for the long-term, but I question whether he’s the right person for the moment in the Senate.

Ken, do not go soft. Go hard and shake up the status quo. Expose the failures of Biden and others in the party. Make major changes.

Fixing what’s wrong with our party is not about fine-tuning tactics and message. Moreover, suggesting that there will not be real criticism of J. Biden is concerning. It’s time for a brutal self-assessment. It sounds like Martin has assured the powers that be that he will take a gentle approach.

Steve, where is the current Democratic Party leadership? They are flat footed. They adjourned to take a long weekend. Schumer and Co. are utterly ineffective. We need people who are articulate, charismatic and aggressive. Hell, what I would give to have Nancy back in charge.
