Incredible survey here, conducted by one of Trump’s pollsters for an Elon-backed group, showing extending health care subsidies is far more popular with swing-district voters than extending the Trump tax cuts.

There was a lot of sturm und drang about whether Dems were walking into a Trump-laid trap by defending USAID. Emerson poll has just 36% supporting its elimination, compared to 44% opposed. Approval of Musk as head of DOGE is just 41%, with 45% opposition. emersoncollegepolling.com/february-202...

Democrats view the coming fights over President Trump's agenda as an opportunity to put his party on the defensive and damage the president's political standing

A fascination of mine has been the persistence of Louis DeJoy as a topic for Democratic fundraising emails, which lasted years after he had (mostly) left the daily news cycle. I have a Cory Booker fundraising email in my inbox from a month ago focused on DeJoy.

Innovative strategy from a pro-Ukraine Republican congressman here, arguing abandoning Ukraine would be DEI.

FTC/DOJ keeping the Biden-era merger guidelines is a win for the small handful of Dems/progressives who insisted the Trump admin was sincere about antitrust enforcement. But we’re also only less than a month into the admin, so...

Two recent poll findings show the public would clearly start on the side of the judiciary in a fight w/ Trump. Pew: Just 33% of the country thinks Trump shouldn’t have to “worry so much” about Congress/the courts. Marquette: 83% say the president has to follow a SCOTUS ruling.

New Gallup poll: 45% plurality of Dems/Dem-leaning indys want the party to become more moderate, compared to just 22% who want it to stay the same and 29% who want it to become more liberal. Big shift from 2021. news.gallup.com/poll/656636/...

Flanagan moving quickly is smart – victories by Fetterman in ’22 and Kim in ’24 show that first-movers can get a pretty big advantage in Democratic Senate primaries.

Trump's attacks on federal workers have led to a surge in union signups, according to AFGE. The union's goal was to hit 325K members by end of 2025 but they might hit it by end of this week. “I really want to send him an organizing award,” union prez says of Trump. www.huffpost.com/entry/afge-g...

Hey there. HuffPost went through some brutal layoffs this week. A lot of folks I deeply respect were impacted. My book never would’ve happened had it not been for the editorial freedom I got at HuffPost. So! I’ll mail a signed copy to the first 10 people to give $100+ tonight. gofund.me/6391d9ff

Yesterday, I was laid off after 10 years at HuffPost. I’m obviously gutted. But once I take a breath, I’ll be open to jobs & freelance work, both in journalism and outside of it, given the state of our industry. To get in touch: [email protected] Signal: marinafang.72

New: Trump and his allies have seized on a new and unproven legal strategy – involving state consumer-protection laws against things like false advertising – to attack media outlets. CBS's settlement talks with Trump are emboldening them. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/07/b...

It’s important to remember that – even if the public did not disqualify Trump the way Dems would’ve preferred – very few Americans believe Trump’s rewriting of Jan 6. 66% disapprove of the insurrection. Only 29% consider it “legitimate political discourse.” 50% oppose pardons.
