This is one of the big reasons I managed survive my severe depression/suicidal ideations when I was a kid.
I write because I enjoy it and selfishly want to make it a career. But I also write because I want to be responsible for the distraction that someone like me desperately needs 📚💙

Names are so hard - all the ones i know obviously come from already real people - and what if someone with that name thinks i named a character after them? No, no, we're calling this one Lilly or John again.

So true! I put waaaaay too much thought into character names! And place names?!
FORGET IT.
I write fantasy and coming up with country/town names is a flipping NIGHTMARE
I always either have the place name immediately or have to call it "snowy country" for 3 years (true story)

She thought of the time he went bodysurfing on Cape Cod and ended up tearing his chest raw against the rocks. The way she pretended not to notice him crying as she dabbed his torso with hydrogen peroxide. The way he held her after, a few inches between his vulnerable body and hers.
