It's generally understood that a member of the clergy are present in such situations for emotional/spiritual support. Even law enforcement gets that - or at least they did before they donned masks and became the Gestapo.

That's wonderful! My dad was a radio operator stationed in China. We marched together in our town's Memorial Day parade, he with the veterans and me in the high school band. It was a big day for us, and one of my fondest memories.

My dad was in WWII also. I miss him but I am glad he is not here to see this.
