l'll never be able to express how much I appreciate everyone who read DTACTTA, who bought copies/ checked it out from their libraries, left reviews, posted about it, wrote to tell me it meant something to them, and recommended it to the young people in their lives.

But the biggest highlight? The people who’ve posted and written to say my story meant something to them/their teen/their students. If you ask any author, you’ll find that this tops everything else. This is what we’ll remember. Readers will always be the best part 💜

The truth is I came up with the plot last, after I had the character, after I knew where she had to begin and where she had to end, after I knew the people who would be with her on that journey. The real story, to me, was always about empathy and how it changes a person.
