Today is publication day for the new book - Critical Data Studies. But since my copies are stuck in Holyhead parcel pileup & open access version not yet available on publisher website I'm saving marketing stuff to new year. As a launch day it's a bit of an anti-climax! But it's no longer 'in press'

Me in @placesjournal.bsky.social : “Repair can help us move beyond the ideas of techno-solutionist decarbonization that tend to dominate tech industry greenwashing + to look instead at practices, institutions + architectures that can extend the lives of systems through refurbishment + repurposing”

Met a few folks recently using 1e of The Data Revolution as a course text who haven't switched to 2e as thought it was a light refresh. 2e has 10 new chapters & rest rewritten. It's got 50% more content & fills in a lot of gaps re devs in Critical Data Studies. It's really not a light refresh

Data Stories was involved in two events last week. A XR masterclass at BETA 2024 in Dublin (the link below), and the Data Lives conference in Copenhagen. Great to be out meeting folks and sharing the work
