Followed you on the other place when someone RT'd one of your all-caps rants, which I found really funny. Since then, I enjoy the various cat, burrito, humorous, political, but always entertaining posts. I have yet to read one of your books, but enjoyed your writing in LD+R.

Also, I would be perfectly happy if it wasn't ideologically diverse. I don't have the need to be challenged on social media. It's a space where I just want to engage with things I have an interest in and with people I like.

Every time I walk on a broken escalator, I say to myself "Sorry for the convenience" in his voice. Such a legend.

Can I introduce you to @jesslynnrose.bsky.social ? As someone with a shared interest in web dev and Japanese, maybe she can help.

It allows me to use it, but before it completes the registration it says "Reserved handle" and then kinda just bugs out. But seems like it's reserved at least. You mentioned the UI for it is coming, so I can appreciate it's still work in progress. Fantastic feature!

I switched back and forth yesterday which I am hoping reserved it. Is there any way for me to verify that my old username is now reserved?

I've always considered it a privilege to pursue tech as a hobby or side hustle in addition to a full-time job, and it should never be expected. Tech debt can always be repaid in future, but sacrificing time with your family is not something you will ever get back. Do what feels right for you.

We often have regrets when it comes to terrible choices we have made in the past, so something similar that works well for me is .. "How do I want to remember this moment?"

Just don't. Ignorance is bliss. That's my plan, at least

In Dutch it's "zuurstof", which I guess is close to German.
