Assessment type. Films, records, books, that Sort Of Thing. Will write for Scampi Fries, or cash with which to buy them. I’m not like this because I’m in Van Halen, I’m in Van Halen because I’m like this. Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/jKip

(I have not applied the ‘series rule’, because I’ve got A Lot On.)

Argh, sorry to hear that. Lovely - quite a bit more damage in the first few reels than the remainder, but happily the car chase and Jar Jar were intact.

I’m Empire… on rerelease before …Jedi came out years old, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen Star Wars in the cinema, which seems …unwise.

Admittedly, this is quite odd. But it is true.

Quite! (It’s £4 and under, so as a Londoner(ish) abroad, it might as well be.)

Transpired that he’d then put the same three bangers on twice in a row (Roxanne; You to Me are Everything; Blame it on the Boogie), assuming the machine to be malfunctioning, and the previous tunes were the work of someone who’d long since scarpered.

The prog thickened: Heart of the Sunrise followed, and meanwhile one half of the couple on the next table was Very Frustrated that his selections had not yet appeared. By the time Tangerine Dream started, our man had Had Enough, and went to the bar for a £1 refund, before going back to the jukebox…

Every time I try to work out exactly how lots of other people seem to be able to afford to go on plenty of holidays, the answer is always ‘they don’t spend as much on records as you do’, and frankly I find that rude.

Also, the best version of Animal Farm was clearly the one I was in at college, so it’s all academic.

Yup, and over-exposure to some of those singles didn’t help.

I think I like the rest of the album more than you, but *absolutely this* re the back half (and re His & Hers, too).

Having said that, having a film version of AF that isn’t reactionary CIA-backed propaganda, that also gets the ending wrong, is not entirely unwelcome. (I’m ignoring the other other version, because I haven’t seen it.)

I did a double-take at this

A Greek/Mexican fast-food place popped up in Beckenham a little while ago, but it seems they’ve gone back to the drawing board with that one now.

Absolutely this, although I came late to Long Gone Before Daylight (post-twee, but also post-Garbageish) and it’s a bit of a stunner.

‘the dank jumble sale of the heart’ is lovely, @retrousse.bsky.social!

I thought the trailer looked awful, but then I learned that it was a horror comedy and now I think the trailer was brilliant and can’t wait to see it.
