With this President seeking to control so much, you should understand the legal history and what's truly at stake if he's successful. Very insightful piece from @casssunstein.bsky.social

If you or someone you know has been impacted by LA fires, please consider contributing to this study with responses to a short survey.

Oh?

Conservatives monitoring egg prices during Biden's administration compared to during Trump’s administration:

“It was another Elon Musk headache,” said one Trump appointee, who said they were supportive of DOGE’s ambitions but growing weary of its interruptions. "Every day, same team, different problems.” www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

For all the turmoil, chaos, and people's lives upended, DOGE and Trump have accomplished little on the fiscal savings front. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/u...

As we await the next round of terminations at FEMA, here is a little background info. We cover the extent of FEMA disaster response/recovery missions and the staffing shortfalls the agency is already struggling to remedy. www.nrdc.org/media/trumps...

Great way to engage people in the solution and the problem.👏

More bad news for disaster recovery efforts. The New York Times is reporting that Trump admin will cut HUD's disaster recovery team by 84%. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/c...

In the DC area? I'll be there for a screening of the documentary, Built to Last. Good time to talk about the need to build smarter for an uncertain future.

The nation's ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters just took a severe hit. That also includes dealing w the inevitable impacts of climate change www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

But of course Trump didn't know anything about this Project 2025 thing during the campaign...

seeing posts on linkedin trying to help climate impact scientists slashed in the federal purge find jobs in the private sector and this is of course admirable (and private sector you do in fact need these people!) but so sad to see public knowledge turn into private knowledge so palpably

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit
