Something that doesn't get talked about enough is how underwhelming these private "space" flights are in terms of what they're actually achieving. They're visiting "space" in the same way I "visited" a country whose airport I've had a layover in.

This decision reveals Israeli decision-makers’ disregard for fundamental human rights such as freedom of movement and freedom of opinion and expression. It embodies their blackout policy & is intended to prevent any independent oversight or disclosure of the facts. euromedmonitor.org/en/article/6...

The Irish government must not support a commercial liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal or allow fracked gas imports from the United States, a group of energy experts have warned. www.businesspost.ie/article/ener...

DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA. Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps. Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems. See how this works?

CANDA MUST JOIN THE EU

Embarrassing.

I hate to criticise anything with Michelle Yeoh in it, but I just finished Section 31 and it's garbage. The worst thing to happen to Star Trek since Neelix.

Wanting government TDs to take up opposition speaking time is dilution of democracy. They are supporting the government and should be treated as such. A stroke has been pulled here, and the media should hang their heads for trying to play it down with soundbites. #speirgorm

In case anyone's interested, the government of Ireland, which is propped up by dodgy deals with independent TDs some of whom have criminal convictions, just changed the law so those independents can act as though they're in Opposition, and when challenged, they just brought up the Troubles as usual.

Oohh lovely! The Irish version of a parliamentary power grab ☘️ #speirgorm #spéirghorm #GE24 #IrishPolitics

When it comes to the regional independents they struck deals with, and the electorate, #FFG promised more than they could deliver. The difference? #FFG are doing everything in their power to keep their partners happy. Have they ever gone to such extremes to help the electorate? #spéirgorm

Absolutely outrageous and must be opposed by everyone who values democracy. Trying to steal opposition speaking time. You can't be in government and opposition at the same time. A brazen attempt to force through unpopular & immoral policies. #irishpol

Am I the only one that doesn't see this as a "row", but a fundamental change in the democratic balance of how the Dáil functions? Media saying they should stop their silly row & get back to normal, when the new normal means gov can fill time with back-claps! #IrishPol www.rte.ie/news/analysi...

A cool thing about the Dail speaking rights row is that it’s happening over Michael Lowry, a man that 66% of people think shouldn’t be anywhere near government. Only 41% of FF supporters are on FF’s side of the debate. It will be HILARIOUS if all this leads to another election.

It appears that, in the latest twist, the Government has decided to create Leaders Praising Time, where Government backbenchers can pose questions to the Government Ministers such as "Why are you so handsome?" and " How can we support your great work?" https://www.rte.ie/news/politics/2025/0227/149

Indefensible by decent people.

€360k could have been used to bring 18 empty and derelict council homes back into use #VacantIreland #DerelictIreland

I wonder what's the shortest length of time I can be away from my dog only to have her freak out with joy at my return? She goes for naps and wakes up thrilled to see me.

All the Opposition need to maintain a common front on this, and no backing down. This isn't about right/left or party allegiances. The fact that the government had to resort to "But the RA" today to defend this tawdry stitch-up proves they know what weak ground they're on.

€558m over 12 years is €46.5m/year, which is 4.65% of the estimated annualised defrauding of the state through bogus self-employment (€1,000m/year). Recovering 1 year of that is more than 20 times the full social welfare over-payments.

Hello from Peru! A young male Bushmaster (Lachesis muta), 30 inches (76cm) and about a year old. Found on a forest trail last night and retained for some data collection - we’ll take him back to his spot tonight. #herps #snakes 🌿

At a time when we need a competent and functioning government, we, the people of Ireland, have been let down badly. They should hang their heads in shame and apologise to us all. #speirgorm #Ireland

I implore anyone of the left to encourage your representatives to maintain this united front. Better yet, join a party and tell them this energy is why you're doing it. Advocate for unity. Advocate for accountability. Convince them that we're stronger together than any one of us alone under #FFG

" @social-democrats.bsky.social leader Cian O'Callaghan has said that the vote was a "return to grubby deals in back rooms".

All Governments must be held to account. Accountability is searching and rigorous - that's democracy. To give that role to your own TDs is a stroke, and it weakens our national parliament. @greenpartyie.bsky.social is united with other parties in opposing this.

They need to be hounded and harassed about this relentlessly at every opportunity. The media need to start calling it what it is too instead of going into "both sides" autopilot. #FFG

I don't change my phone until the thing won't start without a defibrillator. The downside is every time I get a new one the fucking keyboard takes forever to figure me out and I post more typos. Nothing takes the wind out of my rant sails like noticing the typo after the fact.

Argument: I don't vote for Fine Fáil and Fine Gael my house will devalue. Counterargument: If you stopped voting for the pricks you wouldn't need to rely on your house value to ensure you can afford access to basic services into your old age.

Economic inequality has reached absurd levels. The billionaires are the problem. We need a rebalancing of economic and political power. Because money is power, universal basic income is power to the people. Tax the billionaires. Publicly fund elections. We do these things, or else it's French Rev 2.

Landlords "leaving the market" is only a problem if they're burning the fucking house down or boarding it up. They're either selling it to someone who will live there, or selling it to another parasite to rent out. Either way someone is getting housed. Fuck off with that obfuscating phrase.

I think it’s sweet that ff and fg show such loyalty and devotion to lowry, what good pals
