- Hulk: City of Idols. I’m ready for this story to take its foot off the brakes and get somewhere. Feels like it’s been revving its engine for too long. - World’s Finest: Secret Origins. Everything you could want out of a comic book.

Ambush Bug & Cheeks are great. The fact that they made Bug and included Cheeks, and that he can carry Cheeks like that is wild.

- Scarlet Witch: Queen of Chaos. This is one of Marvel’s most consistent books. Always delivers and pulls characters in from all over the Marvel universe. - X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse. There’s some cool character bits in here but Apocalypse’s new heir’s redesign needs a redesign.

Back with another favorite comic artist: Jim Aparo. Personally, he’s the definitive Batman artist. His Batman had a grace and humanity that I admired. He’s one of the best storytellers and an unsung hero in art. Examples include Brave and the Bold, a pinup of Batman’s rogues, Spectre and Aquaman.

Imagine having all three of these classics in your resume as a director. Don’t talk to me about Hitchcock and Spielberg and those fools. Put some respect on Michael Schultz’s name.

I’ll have tape over my belly button, like King Hippo. Holding the hernia in place.

Hernia Hancock’s gonna be my stage name when I hit chippendale’s. Making this money one way or another.

Ultimates: Fix the World by Camp and Frigeri. Iron Lad and Doom have eighteen months to put together a team to take back the world. The new Ultimate universe has been a hit and this chapter was rad. Hyped for more.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Tomorrow’s Avengers volumes 1 & 2. Collects the early appearances of the original Guardians, including the Korvac saga, which gets better every time I read it. Lots of great 70s Marvel stuff here.

- Pep 400. I had a ton of Archie comics as a kid, but this one stuck out because Archie & the gang visited the creators of the comic. I didn’t know they could do that back then. - Marvel Holiday Special. Look at that Art Adams cover. That’s what made me want to teach myself how to draw.

- Brave & the Bold 155: I was 8 or 9. Got this at a used book shop with my grandmother. My first Haney & Aparo comic and they became life long favorites. - Captain America 337. Cap, Falcon, D-Man and that jerk Nomad vs the Serpent Society. One of my first Marvel comics.

That Captain America 303 is my favorite cover of all time. Batroc throwing a drop kick at Cap while Machete and Zaran make a bet in the background is comic book perfection. The other three covers can change depending on the day, but #303 is always the best.

Next on my favorite comic artist list: Sam Kieth. Kieth’s art is exaggerated, expressive and bold. He was my favorite of the Image crew. Examples are include the Maxx, Wolverine and the Hulk.
