#Tolkien hot take of the day: The Hobbit movies were definitely not perfect, but did get a lot right. For example, the tone. The Hobbit is told from Bilbo's perspective. Bilbo is prone to exaggeration and a bit of self aggrandizing. The movie did this, which explains the more silly tone.
