Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

Dear Manager, 1. I drank a whiskey drink. 2. I drank a vodka drink. 3. I drank a lager drink. 4. I drank a cider drink. 5. I sang the songs that remind me of the good times; I sang the songs that remind me of the better times.

The Secretary of Defense goes on tv to explain he is preparing to have the military break the law.

"Trump and Elon are Making America Great Again. There is no better way to symbolize our nation’s current greatness than these ludicrous, excessive, and utterly pointless Tesla Cybertrucks."

Democrats could host a 24-hour telethon where they all just take turns interviewing federal workers who did essential work and had their lives destroyed. Literally, it could be a 24-hour Twitch stream where they work in shifts interviewing people from their districts.

Deputy AG Lionel Hutz quickly scribbling an ampersand onto it.

these are segregationists.

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

roses are red violets are blue singular they predates singular you

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

Greta Thunberg doesn’t have my bank routing information

Just heard from a Minnesota farmer who fronted her own money for some conservation work because USDA had a contractual agreement to reimburse her. Musk’s freeze means she’s out that money and USDA is refusing to reimburse.

"Gaza development plan" is such an Orwellian turn of phrase, such an abuse of language to normalize a proposed ethnic cleansing

Farmers report missing millions of dollars of funding they were promised by the U.S. Agriculture Department, despite promises from the Trump administration that a federal funding freeze would not apply to projects directly benefiting individuals.

We’re barely a month away from watching the Cubs beat the Dodgers in Japan.

they can take over the entire country but they can never actually be cool and it will eat at them forever

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

I'd like to see more writing on how the Musk/Trump junta feels like a frontal attack on the entire concept of virtue, in even the most traditional senses. They are actively demonizing and punishing everyone who doesn't worship Mammon.

if you were an unreconstructed segregationist from jim crow alabama, what would you do differently than this administration with regard to civil rights enforcement?

A big part of this is the way Republican Congressional members have steadily moved away from actually governing to treating the office as promotion for their work as an influencer.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of #USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

You say: they shutdown USAID. You mean: they illegally broke in to a secure facility over a weekend, hijacked sensitive data on vulnerable people and US businesses, destroyed property Americans paid for, cut off resources for sick and hungry families, and fired Americans across the country.

Makes you think. Really makes you think. Makes you think, about a lot of things.

I do defy him, and I spit at him

If you wanted no leaks you should have gone into Settings -> Security -> Configure privacy & security -> Privacy options -> Other -> Configure -> Media interface and clicked “Disallow.” The Leak setting is on by default but we understand your privacy is important so we’ve made it easy to opt out

if we staff ICE with Uvalde police officers, they'll never enter schools

it could look like a constitutional amendment and nothing else, because the Constitution is where birthright citizenship lives in the law

The same people having a temper tantrum over DEI just confirmed the least qualified Secretary of Defense in US history because Trump liked him on TV.

@economist.com How long have you required subscribers to interact with a deliberately uncooperative chat agent in order to cancel a subscription?

I'm uninterested in whether politicians and tycoons who play footsie with neo-fascist rhetoric are true believers or not. Many segregationist politicians in the South weren't personally prejudiced, they just found racism a useful tool to attract votes. The wrongs that resulted were the same.

Dr. Seuss cursing at someone

Die Zeit, a prominent German publication, titles its article: 'A Hitler salute is a Hitler salute is a Hitler salute.'

It is not "hard," it is unconstitutional.

He will steal, sir, an egg out of a cloister. For rapes and ravishments he parallels Nessus. He professes not keeping of oaths; in breaking ’em he is stronger than Hercules. He will lie, sir, with such volubility, that you would think truth were a fool.

Mr. Smith murdered his wife today, a powerful way to stop her from leaving him that legal experts assailed as murder

if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

What if we could liberate ourselves from the tyranny of the physical steering wheel? My touchscreen digital steering wheel prototype dares to imagine the convenience, comfort and space efficiency that could be ours... if we demand it
