The time for careful calculation has passed. It made sense in earlier political moments, but not now. The GOP has called the question. Are we a nation who chuckles when a DHS secretary who shot her dog in a gravel pit makes a joke about alligators ripping the flesh of humans in her custody, or not?

It kills a half a trillion dollars of pending investment in US manufacturing and energy supply and 100s of thousands of associated jobs. It makes our air dirtier and our climate more dangerous.

But in reality, this is just procedural gymnastics to ignore the parliamentarian while pretending they aren’t.
So, Senate Republicans are making up their own cost estimate of their bill - against what the parliamentarian would say. And they’re doing it so they can break the rules of the Senate.

Although Alito frames the remedy here as "notice and opt-out," the reality is that school districts cannot manage such a sweeping opt-out system. They are far more likely to simply pull books with LGBTQ characters off classroom shelves altogether rather than face a ruinous, high-profile lawsuit.

I want to reiterate that countless conservative judges issued universal injunctions against the Biden administration, and the Supreme Court never halted the practice. Now, barely five months into Trump's second term, the court puts an end to these injunctions. A brazen double standard.

- Religious exception rulings apply only to the plaintiffs.
- Environmental regulations continue to be enforced despite rulings against them (just not against plaintiffs).
- and on and on.
The left has to use this decision, not just criticize it.
It'll be chaos, but that's what the Justices get.

This is beyond journalistic malpractice.
We're talking about matters of war and peace—historic lies told by a POTUS to push America into a pointless war—and CNN is burying the lede that the attack was a byproduct of secret negotiations with those who've supported Trump financially and politically?

Here's the video if you're curious. It was just posted to the official White House account. We're such a bizarre country.
