Today on Rock Docs: Sly Lives! The movie shows us how Sylvester Stewart evolved into Sly Stone, co-founded the Family Stone, and cranked out many classic tunes . And, of course, we learn about Sly’s drug-fueled downfall and late in life redemption. www.treblezine.com/rock-docs-po...

Threw on Gene Clark's "No Other" today - it always delivers. Any recommendations for other albums of that era that I may not have heard, with similar vibes?

Same

Our promise to you: we will never review a music biopic on the Rock Docs podcast. That's not our beat. However, if you invite us onto another podcast, of course we're happy to do so.

I’m wearing a sweatshirt for the Casbah, San Diego’s legendary rock club. This young barista just asked me, "Have you heard of that song Rock the Casbah?" Anyway I just died of old age.

As Beatles '64 moments go, this is probably my favorite. RIP, thanks for sharing your work.

The Oscars should announce that they're revoking every Best Director award they've given out for the last 45 years and posthumously giving them all to David Lynch

RIP David Lynch 😢

I played "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" for my kid today and I think we as a society need to bring back the wah-wah guitar. Musicians, don't let me and my boy down.

This year I think we should only do "Worst of 2025" music lists

I like Bluesky just fine but today on X somebody revealed that a song they recently heard in an Uber truly terrified them, and that song ended up being "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel. Wake me when something that bizarre and interesting happens on here.

This suggests a reading of the movie as an anti-Communist fable. Which, regardless of the viewer's political leaning, would make it a richer text than the "check it out, it's Bob Dylan" take.

We all need to admit that X, an undeniably great band, were very himbo coded

For Immediate Release: we will not be reviewing "A Complete Unknown" on Rock Docs. Our policy is not to review biopics on our show. We will go on other podcasts to discuss biopics if asked.

If they made a movie with Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler where Bob Dylan and Elvis were a mismatched pair of detectives having wacky adventures, I would watch the shit out of it.
