The giant cuts contemplated to Medicaid and other essential programs, the massive redistribution of wealth upward, the turning of the U.S. into a militarized police state, blithely accepted by mainstream GOPers, are imo decidedly more radical than Mamdani’s plans./6

I fully embrace the Costco model for our government.

Wait, I thought Costco was socialism too?

They could but it wouldn't get by the majority.

I wish people would just stop talking to them and talk only to the independents.

I disagree. I think Trump knows exactly what he's doing. He's playing toddler while Israel gets him some more real estate.

OOOHH.. you know what he meant.

We do not have the same issues. The problems are far worse. We failed. *We failed.* We decided, yes decided, to let bygones be. We let bad actors have the upper hand. We didn't say no. We can't keep doing the same things and expect success. We need to let the young people try.

I didn't misunderstand. This is where us olds get it wrong. We believe we've been there, done that, the same as the youngs now. We haven't. We never had to do active shooter drills. 80% of us were able to buy a home and be paid a decent wage relative to the cost of living, perhaps 25% of Ys do now.1

Ps- did you accidently use the dog shampoo too?

Ditto. Much as I think I can understand issues young people have now, they are not my issues. They may compromise some but not like the old guys, for whom there is always *next time*.

also the almost explicit claim that it isn’t possible for straight white men to lack merit

That's not how it works. It's not "they" as you say, who is responsible. They are us. If you aren't letting your representative know what you want in government then you misunderstand. Voting is only part of being a good citizen.
What would you consider normal? Who do you think politicians are?

I keep wanting to say it wasn't the Democrats that did this. But it was. We, and especially the elected officials, continue to fail to get the vote out and speak up to get the case made for good immigration policy.

In a few instances. There were suggestions Dems back away from anti Trans legislation. That said, Democrats have maintained a united front against it.
Stop saying it, trying to make it happen. No group is absolute.
See: Rs that aren't cis white men.

Incredibly, the phrase is overused. In this country.
This is who we are right now.
Can this not be US?

Yes. The ruling implies transgender is a choice.
Trite, but cruelty is the point.

Oh they still will, because the Democrats didn't prevent it. Never mind they have to get a majority voted in and those saying it don't vote, or believed and claimed the "I just didn't like her" type of BS.

People pay federal individually. The people have to do it. The state government can't. And if a majority does, they may as well secede, because the fed will come after them.

Yes. DNC keeps going moderate, thinking they'll get more of the center vote. They won't. People who are going to vote R will no matter what. What happens is they alienate people who might vote if they thought Ds represented them. There are a lot more of those than I voters they might pick up. IMHO

So, don't vote in protest and let the really evil guy win?
