Thanks for the heads up, in-flight entertainment content advisors!

Watching Dead Calm while the boy and his friend take the flight simulator program out for a spin and reminded how hard this Graeme Revell soundtrack hits from the starting block (bonus points for SPK fans who recognize a track or two from Zamia Lehmani on it)

Now screening:

Matt Warren's very cool choose-your-own-apocalypse / meta-horror movie launches tomorrow (I executive produced which more or less meant cheering them on from home.)

It's fantastic that there have been so many theatrical screenings of his films in tribute to David Lynch, but there's one I've still never seen and I'd sure like someone to project it big and loud....

Re-reading Curtis Harrington's book which was a good excuse to dig a little deeper into his filmography. Always loved Night Tide and Queen of Blood and it's fun to check out his collaborations with Shelley Winters. (Up next: Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?)

Nice evening for a re-read

The infamous WALL ST JOURNAL article & illustration, Monday, June 26, 1989, pg. 1 (Vol. CCXIII, No. 123).

the simulation hypothesis, but the simulation we live in isn't some grand scheme by higher-level beings to understand the universe, it's part of a planning study being undertaken in 3325 to put in six crosswalks in des moines iowa that will later by shot down by NIMBYs

Your regular reminder that the first known clinic to offer gender-affirming surgeries was … destroyed by Nazis. In 1933. (Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institut für Sexualwissenschaft.) They always come for trans people first.

Really? Nobody ever thought to tell me how much The Shining has in common with Burnt Offerings? (Or that Burgess Meredith appears to be played by Martin Short in this one)
