58/252 HP tells the story. Did you check your heart rate after? 😂

Congratulations! I'd just about given up on it but you've given me some hope that it's possible. Back into the Shiren mines I go, I guess.😂

German and English speaker here. The first is a better translation, capturing both the spirit and the text. The second is an interesting attempt but doesn’t sound natural in English.

Augments sounds like something cybernetic and I’m all in on it.

I'm incandescently angry at this. I've been teaching for over 20 years, the majority of it doing reading interventions with struggling readers, and this is wrong in every way.

100% bullshit. I spent the early part of my teaching career with struggling readers and this is the LAST thing you want to do. Let them read whatever they want! They'll build reading fluency and stamina and most importantly, a love of reading.
This is malpractice. I'm not kidding.

That’s great to hear. As much as I love their work, it’s always been in a constant state of needing “just a bit more” polish and focus. I’ll be watching this one for sure.

Arcen always swings for the fences with their stuff. This looks amazing.

Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst. I played a TON of PSO on GameCube back in the early 00s before Sega shut the servers down. I found a solid private server and got back into it. It’s every bit as fun as it was when I first played it. Currently running a Viridia Hucast.

It runs really well on the Switch, in case anyone is wondering.

It sucks and I hate it.
It's terrible ergonomically. If it has to be used (and it never should be haha) it should only be a toggle for things like menus or HUD elements that you don't need in a high-pressure situation.

I said this on another thread about it, but there are 4 face buttons and 4 triggers on modern controllers. That's 8 actions you can take. That's more than enough for almost any game. You don't need any more.

Just finished chapter 1 and I am 100% invested in what happens to this band of misfit police officers and the city they're trying to protect. I've gone out of my way to talk to and learn about the citizens, listen to their problems, and solve them whenever I can. On to chapter 2!

One thing Phantasy Star online did is have a shoulder button toggle a separate face button layout, essentially doubling the number of skills/actions you could take.
Not sure why that didn’t become more common but I thought it was an elegant solution.

I honestly hate clicking the stick for anything. "Click and hold" is even worse.
Modern controllers have four face and four shoulder buttons. If you can't map all of your actions to them, you should have fewer actions!

“Balcony” should be “I’d like to.”
One day I’ll proofread everything before I post it. Today is not that day.

Finished prologue and deep into Ch. 1. It's well-written with a surprising amount of optional character-building moments you get from talking to NPCs around town. In most RPGs you talk to townspeople because you have to. Here, I WANT to. If the whole series is like this, I'm going to enjoy myself.

Trails from Zero. I love the way it looks: the chibi-esque character models and the anime-style portraits are my aesthetic. Systems seem both easy to understand and deeper than they appear. Characters are charming and the world feels lived-in and real. Looking forward to spending more time here.

💯 “oh you think you know how to deal with challenging enemies? How about one who counters 90% of your arsenal?”
I hate them and love the pure “eat shit” attitude behind their design.

Dude who shared it blocked me when I asked why he was sharing an article that shit on teachers for taking sick days. 😂 It’s his prerogative but it’s funny how thin skinned he was.

You’re doing great! Keep it up, rest when you need to, and don’t push yourself more than is comfortable.

I haven’t tried it but now I want to. I’ve put enough hours into it so it should be achievable. 😂

Wonderful review of my favorite game of last year. Congratulations on the speed run! That’s truly impressive.

I can't stand the framing of this article for a number of reasons, but the idea that these teachers are "chronically absent" makes my blood boil. It implies irresponsibility or laziness and it sucks.

Then why share this article that explicitly shits on teachers for doing it?

I cannot overstate how disgusted I am with the framing and conclusions of this article. Teachers get sick like everyone else, maybe more than everyone else, and they deserve to be able to take sick days. There are "real costs" to coming to work sick, like infecting your coworkers and students.

Ten days doesn't seem like that much to me. A serious cold can cost you two or three, and the flu might put you on your back for a week. Those are occupational hazards for teachers, especially those in primary school.

Honestly the only thing you might have to retrain yourself on is the pressure you use while writing. Fountain pens need a lot less than a ballpoint. A light touch is best.
They're fantastic writing tools. I hope you enjoy the collection!
