They're apparently not as far as I can tell o_O Like, I guess Lucky Strike was created by the same folks who made Jillian's, but as a separate entity, because why stop at one grown-up Chuck E. Cheese?
And while D&B got the Jillian's brand in the divorce, somehow Lucky Strike got the Boston location

Huh. Was gonna say there was one out here in Boston near Fenway that's now a Lucky Strike, but in the process just found out that
a) It was the original Jillians, and
b) Lucky Strike was started about 20 years after Jillians by the same people
Company ownership is weird

For instance, prior to going to Komodo Mr. Adams related a humorous visit to a prominent venom researcher, Dr. Struan Sutherland, who seemed more interested in hydroponics than venom
He apparently followed his dream and published Hydroponics For Everyone in 1999. And it's still available!

Genuinely quite happy that you brought them back after my current piece. Cause I have a bunch of mud pieces of me and Grave. But this will be the first sluggy one :3c

May be worth checking if they have value - one of the housemates collects older video games/systems, and it turns out he often finds the game/manual/box separately and just Voltrons 'em together.
Which leads to hearing odd statements from down the hall like "Oh sweet, my Kung Fu box is here!"

I mean this makes sense - when I visited Atkins Farms recently I about had a heart attack. It's supposed to be a roadside spot for apples, cider donuts, and weird shrubbery, not a sprawling fudge-and-bakery complex XD
(Was still great though :9)

I am now wracked with wondering if the coin collector shop is in the same area that had the curio shop I remember from growing up (near the original DP), and I am now genuinely considering doing some Work-from-Amherst days in the near future
I will report back on the calzone experience if I do :3c

I had the exact mirror experience just now! I went to the website and looked at their story and was all:
"Oh okay that can't be the spot that sold calzones out the back of the shops near the library"
[deeper search and wikipedia later]
"Oh good for *them*! :D"

holy hell, this is how I find out that the tiny calzone spot I loved growing up in Amherst is now a large chain, I have a *mighty* need to try their current offerings O_O

So they released Coke Anti-Woke!
And the Pepsi drinkers drank Pepsi
But then - Coke No-Trans!
And the Coke drinkers said this is not our drink
And the Pepsi drinkers drank Pepsi
So they released COKE GET DEPORTED!
And there were no more Coke drinkers
And the Pepsi drinkers drank Pepsi

I had that thought too X3 Like, it would've been safer to call it Young James Bond, because James Bond Jr. has some potential *baggage* attached

I was listening to a recent episode of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me during morning foxercise, and they were joking about the concept of a sort of Muppet Babies James Bond and I was there on the elliptical all "WAIT I THINK I REMEMBER WATCHING ONE!"
I'm glad to see it verified so soon after! XD

And I just checked, he has in fact laid into folks before for not correctly using the terms "shepherds pie" and "cottage pie". I feel like if one is the sort to get noisily and angrily pedantic about this, one might not want to plaster their face on a product doing it the 'wrong' way.

This just came up last weekend while exploring a couple breweries with friends. I love how the taproom culture here is *super* kid/family friendly (like, more than almost anything else) because it feels like it helps folks get past that weird 'I shouldn't have to acknowledge that kids exist' thing

It only clicked for me when someone described it as "An attack-of-opportunity, but in chess" The advancing pawn didn't warp ahead two spaces, it attempted to pass through a threatened space and got retroactively ganked in the process.
Somehow that got my brain to go 'AH! Okay almost makes sense.'

Like, I'm not even opposed to the idea of remakes in general. But - they need to say something. And this and the other recent Disney ones are definitely Saying Something. And it's akin to a Roger Rabbit remake going, "Actually, Judge Doom had a point about the streetcars y'know"

Just re-watched the original with Grave because she'd never seen, and because I hadn't seen in about 15 years and...just *fuck* everything about that remake.

Yes! Like...I did eventually mildly splurge on a chef's knife because it gets used constantly and I came across one that feels great in my hand. It'll be a trusted companion for years
Does it *work* appreciably better than the cheaper ones I used before? Absolutely not, it's still just sharp metal!

I mean I've been pondering taking a trip to Nebraska this year - I've never really been, and I've got an old friend out there I'd love to see, so I'm certainly willing to hear this billboard out :3
