He's been dealt an abysmal hand so I can't fault him too much there. Would like to see some reference to 18th century Americans knowing that tariffs are taxes they bear and Americans will bear the cost of these as well. But I'm neither a politician or a diplomat.

This is the underdiscussed subtext to so much of this: lots of people hyperventilating about modern-day 'Nazis' but no coherent view on *why* one is meant to detest Nazis, and certainly no consensus that the problem with them is that they mass-murdered Jews.
