Yes and that can happen without locking property taxes to the purchase prices, forever.

They've all thought that about ny since 1977.

I've enjoyed my visits. So S.D. is LA's Boston? I'm learning alot.

not that I haven't done the chant during the NBA finals. .. But we like LA and we all stand in awe of your strength and resilience.

(LA does not suck - we all have great respect for you and what you're all doing, but during basketball we may get riled up)

my one and only beef with boston is - jesus that commuter rail is less than great. "oh, I can get to the south shore by amtrak then the T on a saturday" Fuck me, no I can't

the only city i've ever gotten shit from a stranger for "where are you from?" "new york*" is chicago. Which is weird because pretty much everyone in NY loves chicago. (my time visiting Boston has been more north of the Charles and with some hipsters in JP)

(this would require the knicks being decent for more than like 3 seasons in a row, and i'm not holding by breath)

I mean, i'm completely bored by baseball and I think that's half of it right there. sure there's jets/pats but the other 1/2 of NY football fans are giants anyway? while its FAR from 1 sided, the rivalry is definitely felt more strongly up there. Maybe Celtics Knicks wll become a thing.

my borough is denser than every major city in this country and has more people (probably, if not its real close) than chicago. but it'll never be "the city"
comment in response to post
i'm one of them "the city" but not "a city"

as someone from exactly in between, other than 9 year old me's Celtics love, I'm not really partisan. no offense to our LA friends, but in a Lower East Side bar during the 2008 Lakers-Celtics finals, almost nobody was watching the game, but nearly everyone joined the "LA sucks" chant I started

this is the exact and specific knowledge that I, a swamp yankee in New York lack.

but hey, I met a an old acquaintance years ago who said he lived "in manhattan" and I said "oh where, I'm in brooklyn?" and he said "long island city' and I said "fuck you you're dead to me"
comment in response to post
hey I'm just a swamp yankee in NYC, but even I know some of your rules.

revising. Newton definitely is "boston" but Waltham? maybe.... maybe not. Boston has bad borders, too.
comment in response to post
definitely must be from inside 128 to say "Boston". Cambridge? boston. Newton? maybe boston. Framingham? no way in fucking hell is that boston.

PSHAW. Manhattan isn't a "city" (i get the point and it's good, just doing our own thing for fun)

fair warning "Wedgies... can be dangerous, potentially causing testicular or scrotal damage. An incident in 2004 involving a ten-year-old boy required reattachment of a testicle to the scrotum."
comment in response to post
wondering if its a regional variant of the wedgie and/or the atomic wedgie.

I mean, not the military rank. The bullying / hazing technique (if i'm correctly reading context)

as a football fan, I have very little faith in world football fans pulling this off

perhaps a boycott, though?

I'd suggest there's probably a middle ground.

they held WCs in Russia, Qatar & Argentina during the dirty war, & Qlympics in Beijing & Mexico months after the mass slaughter of student protestors. I'd be shocked if they're reconsidering anything. they just awarded a WC to Saudi Arabia.

wouldn't that make it more of a piss hole?

There can be some Eastern New England (Boston) "r" dropping near RI - and some New Yawk "r" dropping in the metro north corridor. & I've heard some say central new england (hartford, springfield) speakers sound vaguely "canadian" but I don't hear it myself, as its my native accent.

I'm honestly wondering what a thick local CT accent is....

and home prices are not insane (as long as you don't want to be anywhere within several hours of a major city)

Still? It feels like Fette Sau opened 20 years ago.

The Atlantic is east coast & establishment commentary. But is not liberal.

Is "i think" a statement of fact or a vague hypothesis? Is "some" a description of an entire place and people or some subset thereof?
comment in response to post
The "I think some" is your clue.
comment in response to post
"describing a thing that someone did and some other have done is explaining their home to them" is a stretch, bub.

It may be finger wagging, but it has absolutely zero to do with not making trump mad.
comment in response to post
You don't think trump WANTS violence as a pretext for further state repression? You think violence would "make him mad?"?
comment in response to post
I have just about the lowest possible expectations for the governor of CA, but I really don't think that's the intent of his message.
comment in response to post
Wait... you think he's saying "don't make trump mad?" For real?

There are so many valid reasons to hate Gavin Newsom, we don't have to make up fake ones.
