Loving one's enemies means that even if this guy was a hardcore Trump voter, that we still gotta fight to make sure he gets his insulin. Everyone is created in the image of God, and that means folks like this too. That doesn't mean accepting what they say, or liking it, but hate only begets hate.

While I'm at it and it's early, I'll also say that FAFO discourse doesn't feel good to me at all. I think that the people who will find out the most are the same people who are always finding out: the most marginalized. I also think that it destroys potential solidarity and solidarity is needed now.

I know many of you think the church shouldn't get mixed up in politics. But these days, being loving is political. Being compassionate is political. Standing with a for the people Jesus loves is political. Respecting the dignity of every human being (one of the baptism vows) is political.
