Brilliant but devastating editorial in the Financial Times. “In the past 10 days, he [Trump] has all but incinerated 80 years of postwar American leadership. If you are not at the table, you are on the menu. America has turned.”

This is the spirit we like to see when confronting bullies.

Usually I'll find someone much wiser and measured than me to help make sense of this week but it's been so batshit crazy that I can't find anyone who has written anything which helps calm me. I've reverted to beer drinking. I still can't make sense of any of it but I care slightly less now.

This is a poor headline from the BBC. The US aren't offering a "deal" - they want the minerals in return for support already given. It's straight up extortion.

"Imprecise" in the way that shitting on your kitchen table is "imprecise".

I've never used the f-bomb in the other place but I have here yesterday. Sometimes, and now is the time, when I feel it completely necessary, and a little cathartic too. Just a little.

Disgusting, utterly fucking disgusting if Russia succeeds in this.

When the right are in power they shift the narrative to the right, whereas when the left are in power, they shift the narrative to the right.

We'll get our breath back though. We'll do that.

To all those people who go on (endlessly it seems) about not having freedom of speech, here's a question: what are you being prevented from saying?

I wonder if JD Vance is planning to lecture his boss’s buddy Vladimir Putin on democracy and free speech. 🤔

Look at the patience and understanding Gonzo shows here. You should have some crimbs removed for this behaviores.

So many things I'm worried and angry about, both domestic and international, made worse by the knowledge of not being able to do a damned thing about it...for now.

I adore this thread. On a day when I'm dealing with pointless questions and endless admin, this was the very escape I needed. You are all very lovely and strange folks and I'm here for exactly that.

This is excellent and right on the button.

I find it ironic (stupid, dangerous, hilarious) that Trump spent so much time trying to prove Obama was not born in US only for him to appoint someone who is de facto President and who most definitely was not born in the US.

I can't be the only one who thought Mulligatawny soup was Scottish and not in fact Indian? It just sounds Scottish. Anyway, having some for lunch and can highly recommend.
