As an aside, at Wantage we have an AlfredFest each year on or near his feast day, with Mass in the Market Place 🙏

Perhaps that's true in some places; I haven't been in Anglo-Catholic circles for that long. But some Trad Anglo-Catholic churches also have female clergy preach 🤷‍♀️

Perhaps, but I think both strands of the Catholic tradition are thriving. But if +Croydon did not mean to imply that trad parishes are not, then I'm not sure why she used that very specific word...

(Disclaimer: no idea if this is right) Perhaps it doesn't meet S. Augustine's definition, namely "the visible form of an invisible grace". Because Jesus also preached but preaching isn't a sacrament. Maybe (to borrow RC usage) it's a sacramental (like holy water) rather than a sacrament...?

Moving into uni chaplaincy has meant grappling with these machines! I can use them, but usually not as well as people who actually drink coffee. I'm yet to successfully use the milk steamer as well. Tbh I think cafetieres are best for large groups (e.g. churches).

Our Parish does this for the Feast of S. Alfred the Great. We have an outdoor Mass (using leavened bread). Only baptised Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion, but the rest of the loaf is blessed, and absolutely everyone is welcome to eat some.

I personally tend to use them for Prayer During the Day - although traditionally definitely for MP. But I certainly don't always agree with the readings 😅

I also enjoy Christ the King! But I don't see why people who dislike monarchy have a problem with this feast when Christ's kingship is totally unlike kings of this world.
