Hello, Greensboro, can’t wait to see you Friday with two astonishing poets.

Tremendous news. One of my favorite writers working today.

Happy news: today I signed a contract with Cornerstone Press (out of University of Wisconsin Stevens Point), and MOUTH, my fifth full-length poetry collection, will be out in January 2026.

Maurice Sendak forever - a great @npr.org moment

An excellent mag looking for submissions!

Pretty much every day at this point

Willie Nelson is the oldest living human, yea?

Some mags: We are pleased to accept this poem, which will appear in our Summer 2030 issue. You will hear from us again in the next 4-8 years with a contract. Other mags: We are pleased to accept this poem, which will appear in the issue we'll be posting in twelve minutes. Edits attached, LFG!!!

When the snow has all melted off on Saturday, come to this!

More snow? In this economy?

North Carolina opened its first public institution designed to offer higher education to women on this day in 1891. That school became the University of North Carolina - Greensboro. Thanks, 19th century progressives. Y'all did better than the current crop of legislators.

I want to set up something like the National Poetry Series for chapbooks. One submission, several presses, several judges, big deal. So if anyone wants to fund that, I'd love to do it without a submissions fee.

Very excited about this upcoming reading.

Sentimentality, the ostentatious parading of excessive and spurious emotion, is the mark of dishonesty, the inability to feel... and it is always, therefore, the signal of secret and violent inhumanity, the mask of cruelty. --James Baldwin, calling out my poems on a Sunday morning, whew

If you wonder how the richest man on earth can still be such a petty dipshit, just remember that Jimmy Olsen repeatedly got super powers (including Superman’s!) and was still a fucking nerd.

Had drinks with a writer today who made the point that their objective is no longer to produce the best possible magazine, it is to increase submissions.

Turned off “show reposts” but left on quoted reposts. So now if I see a hot take, it’s yours.

If you're in need of some mindfulness, my friend Caitlin will be supporting this class.

Classified info leaked, payment info for the military borked, no biggie… but sure, she had a private email server, LOCK HER UP

Each day I let out one defeated sigh so profound that all the oxygen leaves my body, my heart stopes beating, and I am legally dead for seven seconds.

Re-watching View to a Kill, rooting for Walken this time.

this is crazy

Bridget Bell, who teaches composition and literature at Durham Technical Community College, defines postpartum depression in one poem as “a window painted shut / a cornered mouse frantic along the floorboards / wheels on black ice — / spinning, spinning, spinning.”

Every NBA team in the 90s

“We’re going to run the government like a business” kind of rings hollow because what board of directors would install a CEO who shuts down all activity in his first week? Or would bring in a dude who managed to reduce the value of his most recent acquisition by 72% in a year?

Another Carl Phillips classic. 💙✨

$20 bucks says that in the end, DOGE is found depositing rounding errors into a private account. Yes, that's the plot from Superman III again.

Um... why the hell would anyone do this?

Man, it's been a hard year since SPD closed and Bull City had to scramble for distribution. But we landed in a place that has forced us to further professionalize and I am strangely grateful. I've learned a ton.

Writing my trivia show this morning, trying to devise a new kind of round for the players. Is there like a trivia host discord somewhere? Would love to trade notes with people who write their own shows.
