Rural living means many things are inaccessible. The mocking/dismissive narrative of uncultured hick punches down to ignore the reality of the situation, the cause of correlation of those born/raised in rural areas to be poor.
I inherently knew this before uni. I had to unlearn it after 6 yrs away.

In kindergarten, my babysitter would read a chapter of The Hobbit before bed. In first grade, my school librarian lent me her copy of The Hobbit book on tape. I convinced her to let me check out the actual book, along w/FotR, after returning it.
