A must-read by Catherine Conlon!

Paris is transforming its landscape and climate by planting a large number of trees (native species) in the city to lower temperatures and improve rainwater runoff to reduce flooding and improve air quality in the city. This is the way intelligent humans change the cities they live in.

Today, we’re taking our Campaign for National Parks to the High Court. In court, we argue that the new Protected Landscapes duty is not a tick-box exercise. Decision makers cannot simply say they’ve complied and carry on “business as usual”. It must drive action. www.cnp.org.uk/news/taking-...

New Review - to Marseille in the 1990s and a young woman trying to work out her future with magic calling. The tale set before Chocolat was a huge delight to read - Vianne by @joannechocolat.bsky.social is out now! Highly recommended www.runalongtheshelves.net/blog/2025/6/...

So many businesses stick a rainbow on their products for #PrideMonth - and that’s their sole contribution to helping the LGBTQ+ community. But occasionally a business does some tangible good. One such is Marmite, which has donated over a million dollars to queer charities. That’s the way to do it. 🏳️‍🌈

Popped into my daughter’s old primary school this morning and so pleased to see the playground full of all sorts of play equipment, a result of engaging with @opal-cic.bsky.social for the last couple of years (sadly after my daughter left). Amazing work!

So much about Agami Heron is at the extreme end of Heronkind, including their Zoooop!

We’ve been in Switzerland for five days now, and the problems breathing and eyes stinging I suffer with in the UK have gone away. It reinforces the commitment we need to work to reduce air pollution in UK cities. Let’s all breathe more easily.

Exactly one year ago I was in #Maldon, #Essex, following in the footsteps of of Byrhtnoth and the English army as they fought #Vikings at the Battle of Maldon in 991. The #OldEnglish poem spins a catastrophic defeat into a victory for honour - with lots of politics between the lines. In my new book!

Grey Seals are so graceful underwater, they move so quick…

This is just the most excellent news – and a huge relief. Well done Tonia Antoniazzi, Stella Creasy, and every MP who led this plan and voted for it. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If you build it, they will come. Half a decade of leaving a nettle patch and finally it is covered in the caterpillars of Peacock butterflies.

Beaver lodges increase biodiversity Beaver lodges aren’t just piles of sticks and mud—they’re finely engineered homes that double as biodiversity hot-spots🦫🌿

Officials were initially skeptical of a €15-million cycling bridge across the Maas River. However, a cost-benefit revealed €114 million in savings over its lifetime. This is just one example of how investments in cycling infrastructure deliver high returns on societal benefits. buff.ly/IbUV0IZ

"There's no machine known that is more efficient than a human on a bicycle. Bowl of oatmeal, thirty miles. You can't come close to that." —Not surprising that Bill Nye, the Science Guy, has known about the efficiency of the bicycle for a long time. 🚲🧵
