not really considered a classic over here, more of a extravagant pre-WW2 oddity w/an awkward message... which is why the analysis in the above video is interesting. it points out that all the modern left/right arguments make it a difficult film to understand on it's own terms, in it's own era.

yah, I felt really gross being on it. also watching my old friends falling for all the weaponized outrage or conspiracy nonsense was really depressing. most of them didn't seem to know how to edit their feeds or install privacy add-ons, etc. it baffled me.

also- the 1st film was a viral sensation, bigger than Jaws. there was nothing like it. you could still find US theaters showing Star Wars into the following *year* ... so many reprints were being ordered that lots of bootleg super 8 & betamax copies ended up floating around, too.

in a niche filled w/a lot of samey copy & paste vlogs, you're doing elevated discussions w/really knowledgable guests. I'd lean into that. for ex. I'd love to see you host the Feral Historian sometime. he's definitely in your wheelhouse... www.youtube.com/watch?v=CScy...

I get it, but I'd also point out you can't throw a rock on bluesky w/out hitting a middle-aged intellectuals, 😂 which I would think is your target audience. you could toot your own horn a little louder, imo. 😉

Ed, check out this guy (Nobody Special Finance) if you haven't. think he'd make a great guest, or vice-versa. you're both hacking at the same roots. 🤘 www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fZq...

Bluesky is small ATM, but it will only grow over time & hasn't been overrun w/media whales or a depressing ad structure yet... ie- it's a *perfect* place for an indie content creator to grow an audience, free of the usual stresses. if I were Ayesha, I'd have more faith in developing roots here.

2 tips- 1) don't linger and 2) the chapters are puzzles. usually youre trying to find a person, place or item that won't appear until you play the right card on the right card (that will say 'story event'). but you can hover cards over each other to see the outcomes in advance.

he's excellent in A Perfect World. uneven film, but the message about toxic violence is good.

copy that. I have a special hatred for adaptations of the Little Mermaid. it's not a love story. it's a cautionary tale about how changing yourself to please someone else is bad, and/or lethal.

Joe Lambie played the husband in segment 1. I was good friends w/his son growing up. this part's funny to me because he was really uptight about smoking IRL, so he's basically just playing himself, lol. 😂

I keep comparing it to Shelley's Frankenstein. like, we grew up thinking AI would be the brainchild of some well-intentioned but loony science types, but it turns out it's being created by spoiled, morally vacuous brats w/no consideration of the consequences of what they're doing.
