Oof. Sending you love as you deal with that and deal with … (looks around at hellscape). This.

It’s because of the Rapture.

I wish thinking wistfully about 2023… not the best year but… Not this.

There are some great and sad books. Wild Faith by Talia Levin @swordsjew.bsky.social lays it out perfectly. She writes outside that culture so it is really accessible. @dlmayfield.bsky.social and her partner have a wonderful podcast outlining it as well. Alice Miller’s books as well.

Alice Miller wrote about the aftermath. James Dobson et al literally built this into American xian society.

I also didn't realize she was 12 years old. I take it all back.

I have a profound understanding of this, unfortunately.

Also add in the violence built into those places through abusive parenting and the trauma left behind. See also: Germany in the early 20th

I see she wrote something about the horrific situation in Atlanta. That I have not read or know anything about.

I clearly am missing something important. Can you explain what is wrong with it?

There are many more Eastern Orthodox Christians than just “Russian”. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has some big feelings about this.

They’re western Christians by theology. That is exactly my point.

They’re Catholic. You can’t overestimate the role of original sin/penal substitutionary atonement

Eastern Christians are not represented by Kyril. He is likely a former KGB type from the Soviet days.

Don't you know I thought the same. I hate this timeline, and I hate knowing what I know.

Yikes. And I am appalled at the low amount of reward money offered for someone who was/is planning to assassinate multiple elected officials.

I am not fighting with you. Stop fighting with me.

I have not mentioned god. I have mentioned healing. I hope you find peace. You’re worth it.

I absolutely do know what I am talking about. I don’t have a “life before child abuse.” And it is harder than it should be to stay alive sometimes. And. I will heal anyway. Because I deserve to. For me.

It is extremely hard to face our trauma, to see the wounds we carry, and to hear the pain of those wounded younger versions of us. Know you are not alone. Even when it feels that way.

You do get to be a person. I promise you. It will take time to rewire your brain and heal your heart. Don’t show them they broke you. Show them they didn’t.
comment in response to post
If I were to give you one piece of advice: focus on your own healing and recovery. You will be stronger for what comes next. Your healing will be an example to those who need to follow your way out of there. That is how you change minds—from a place of healing.

I’m a member of your Patreon and Substack. Your work has been very helpful to me. I have to work through it slowly. But I’m an OG victim of those people. (I’m in my 50s) It’s rough. And. You’re doing great work for a lot of people.

Many of us have been through this. Find a community like Strongwilled. Books like Holy Hurt, podcasts, etc. they all help. You are not alone. It is a hard road, but many are walking it alongside you.

This is all so sadly true. I am realizing how many of us grew up like this, and how many of us didn’t. It’s always an odd conversation.
