The Sunday Shot is a worthwhile initiative. The key insight for me this week is the wholesale disengagement of the Australian community from the political process. This explains, in many ways, the situation that we are currently in. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJxm...

Good advice!!

What we cannot do is to lurch from the frying pan into the fire. Due to backlash against major parties there will be many independent candidates at this election. However we must be careful to avoid voting for the opportunistic, articulate, hypocrite with a beguiling smile but without integrity.

We need to set very clear and uncompromising standards of integrity, transparency and competence for the selection of independent candidates by communities. Communities need clear guidelines for selection of independent candidates distributed across electorates well before the election.

We need practical working solutions: 1. Tackle socioeconomic inequality - introduce UBI; 2. Focus on industry development in renewables and technology; 3. Engage professionals in all disciplines to run the country; Time to stop the socio-jargon & get on with the job of rebuilding Australia.

We must focus on the real issues that affect ordinary Australians. We need a practical vision for Australia and practical steps to implement that vision through active engagement of professionals across all disciplines.

Tolerance for diversity of opinion even if it is diametrically opposed to your own is absolutely essential to enable the four points that you mention. Intolerance of the contrary view is the cause of our society's dysfunction and the state of our world today.
