Your posts are good and cool enough to have convinced me to play the Shining games

Oh yeah, I took a look at the (official, idk about fans) translation history and it looks the series had its volumes localised in a very random and non-chronological order so it probably doesn't matter much unless you're a completionist (which I kinda am)

The movie is from 1983 so I wonder what people's reaction to the CGI was at the time, there was nothing else like it in anime at the time so were people impressed by the novelty?
The manga is over 200 volumes though, so trying out the movie instead of it was a lot less intimidating.

This is from 1983, so I'd hope Spider-Man TAS is a bit more advanced

I've always been curious about Golgo 13 since it's one of the longest manga of all time, and this movie gave a pretty decent look into what Golgo is like, but it wasn't so good that I feel any strong desire to go check out the manga after it.

Aw, thanks
That said, I do feel self conscious enough that there's a lot of things I don't gush about even though I could, because I just don't have anything meaningful to say about them and only saying "X is good" or "Y is good" would feel shallow.

Unfortunately gushing about things is cringe

Also I mean no disrespect to Cagliostro, it is definitely the best Lupin thing I've seen. It's just so very different tonally from all the other Lupin stuff

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing how Lupin and the gang is interpreted as I get further in the franchise. I've heard especially good things about Koike's films

Yeah, that's about right (except Cagliostro, which feels less and less like Lupin the more I watch of them)

And then one day I saw Part 2's opening in AMQ and I instantly thought "wait a second, I recognise that song and animation from somewhere"

On one hand this isn't a good movie, on the other hand its fucking awesome because of its sheer insanity.

Yeah, the merchant chapter of DQ4 isn't deep but it does require you to procure items from dungeons and then sell them to people for profit. It's really cool especially considering it's a NES game and they even later expanded it to a full game (that I haven't gotten around to playing yet)

You make up a lot of good points we've talked about before, but related to the Partitio segment, have you played Dragon Quest 4?
Also while I agree with the sentiment on the Suikoden segment, I think it's all ruined by how easy it is to make money through gambling

Oh, yeah, found it. Like, look at what they did to him/them!

Yeah, it's something I always liked about 1 and 2 as well. So many strange creatures all around the world, and even the parties consisted almost entirely of non-human creatures.

BoF4 is the game in the series I was always the most excited to play so it's good to hear it keeps that feature

Oh, in that case I'm very glad I went with duckstation even though I own the PSP version

Personally I thought the Neclord arc was the low point of the game (though it does lead nicely into Suikogaiden so I respect it more in retrospect) but I really like how it's actually possible to end the game there prematurely.
