given the current environment, continuing to be vehemently anti-crypto is borderline if not fully transphobic. i know, surprise surprise, not every use of crypto is for money making scams

Deciding whether to get this game or not and this post being in the top search results here is quite a sell.

“I really wanted to comment on this odd Euro colonialist narrative that exists on the web and black peoples position within that narrative. I mean, there are browsers called Explorer and Navigator that take you to explore the Amazon or trade in the eBay. It's all just too blatant to ignore." Real.

Nobody from Target can explain why they thought ending DEI programs and cutting ties with Black businesses would have no impact on Black consumers spending money in their stores. They knew we'd stop. They simply underestimated the impact of us cutting them off. That's why it's still "no" for me.

There used to be other websites you could go to if you didn't like the one you were on. It's funny that we ceded all this power to The Platforms because, really, we all needed somewhere to host our forums.

What I mean by "Meta/X would never" - Never allow a platform like Blacksky to be on the "front page" of their app - Never leave moderation in the hands of a community - Never "allow" that community to have its own business model atproto disrupts @cdixonethh.bsky.social puts it well.

Ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun

There's a temptation to romanticize the early internet as "good," and the current internet as "bad." This is overly simplistic. The early internet sucked for Black people, and women, and Black women. I was there. The reason I know so much about these fashy VC losers, is I came across them as babies

Love the whole thread but this post in particular touches me. I have made it this far bc of the skills I learned in my dirt poor, do what it takes bc we all we got, help ain’t coming, you better use what you got, upbringing. JS just lets me express that in a way the people with the money value.

Berkman Klein Center Race+Tech+Media Working Group just hosted Dr. Jabari Evans talking about drill rap and clout chasing Harvard + drill rap? Of course I’m there

i know it doesn’t always make sense, but i do think third-party atproto apps should try to utilize Bluesky’s follow lexicon where possible rather than making their own — a major appeal of atproto for creators is the ability to move platforms but retain followers there are tradeoffs of course

Whole team scoring, shout out @codefreedomritr.bsky.social and @dane.computer
