It’s been months that our creators have use @merryoscar fountain logo and @samsethi truefans logo on their social media tiles. Our creators are already supporting podcasting 2.0 apps out in the wild. Now we need to work together more.

Why aspect ratio is better than width and height. Fixed width and height can break UI across devices. Screens vary, and fixed sizes cause distortion or cropping. Aspect ratio keeps elements proportional, ensuring a consistent look on all screens. It also reduces asset duplication and improves […]

You work hard to bring a feature that was not around in 2023 to the community and now in 2025 seems people just want to not go oh that works. We have added the purpose tag to banners but we won’t support a rename of images or image as a hosting provider it makes it more difficult. We are moving […]

@dave sorry only just listening to this weeks episode. Am unsure of others view. But the images tag to me is important to me as a hosting provider as it currently is as it tells a player look instead of fetching the logo we offer it in smaller sizes like 50,100,150,250,500,1000 etc. It’s […]

@james did you sort your issue out, or is this day 3? Really interested to know what you are doing to solve this issue, as these are the issues that we face everyday and when you X that by the number of podcasts we host (87 atm) you can see why I am so nerdy and will speak up about maybe poorly […]

I really dislike Apple's M4A standard with embedded chapters and images inside the media file it makes them slower when fetching from the backend for the first time.

We just rolled out our LA cache server, which is our biggest server yet, it will replace the HIL server which only had around 450GB, the LA server has room for up to 4TB of storage. The advantage of our LA server is it will also have our longest cache […] [Original post on podcastindex.social]

Well yesterday’s outside broadcast went off without one technical drama. See the pictures here https://pixelfed.social/p/russellharrower/801736715813904043 Podcast episodes dropping soon.

If you’re on #pixelfed follow me please so I can follow you back. https://pixelfed.social/p/russellharrower/801622579294430130

@dansup i love @pixelfed only thing i noticed is i cant see who ❤️ my pictures and they been getting hearts. Anyway to see that data on iOS app?

@james and @samsethi thanks for talking about the 429 idea. It would be nice if players supported that. Also it’s not a cost factor for us atm. As we use our own caching servers which then connect to Google. Our bill is floating around the $290AUD with Google cloud and our internal server costs […]

[Don’t click if you can’t handle the truth!] 🚀 PodToo February Stats 🚀 In February, we transferred 21TB of data! At $0.12 per GB, that would’ve cost $2,520—but thanks to our own cache servers, we reduced our data bill by 89%! 💾⚡ Optimized for creators, built for scale. But we still need […]

Here some hard truths. We asked our creators who use PodToo and 98% of them said they only don’t care if we block podcast apps who mass download, if it means that they don’t get billed a bandwidth cost. They also said they promote Apple and Spotify as that’s where their listeners are. 67% of […]

Jelly beans are packed and ready for this weekend. Love doing outside broadcasts. Make sure you tune in at https://DRN1.com.au

If anyone has a contact with Playapod app developers please ask them to reach out to me, Until further notice they are the first app that we have banned from accessing any PodToo content, due to their app download policy. We mostly all agree "A download is not a listener" and PodToo will take […]

Ok let me have it, tell me why this is such a bad idea. It lowers the costs for everyone including the creators who end up picking up a bandwidth excessive bill. https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/discussions/692 //CC @samsethi @merryoscar @dave

Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Castro support HTTP 429 with a retry option (per our tests when fetching MP3)—whether intentionally or not. That lets us recommend these players to users blocked by apps lacking 429 support. We only recommend apps that support HTTP 429 so creators get accurate […]

Well seems us implementing the 429 Too Many requests, is starting to have listeners switch apps, for applications that are compliant with 429 Too Many Requests. @merryoscar - Can your app deal with response header 429 from media files? @samsethi - Can your app deal with response header 429 […]

Oh I love pure creators listeners, just had another one ask a question about the creators show. So I reached out to the creator, asked them and solved the issue. Went back to the listener and told them and they were happy. @Todd_Blubrry is this common for you to get fans DM you? I think […]

If anyone doesn’t understand why 429 is importantly please watch this. https://youtu.be/07IQAfhmWJU?si=HjhXSqLZf55gWOQd

Had a great chat with a fan whose app auto-downloaded every episode, triggering our 24-hour IP block. App developers, please respect the 429 status and slow down downloads—no need to recheck 600+ episodes instantly. We limit 10 files per minute and recommend disabling downloads by default […]

Video Banners are now live in PodToo XML feeds You can make your site look like this: https://podtoo.com/@jackedradio

Brand new caps from DRN1. Coming soon we launching a merch shop @samsethi

@Todd_Blubrry Thanks for the shout out on the latest episode of New Media Show.

Any IT nerd will love this our cache servers running at close to 100% as possible. 1% missed that’s incredible.

@dave can you also please remove this listing as they did a 301 redirect to podtoo but for some reason now Afrojack - Jacked Radio is listed twice (never use to be and unsure why this one came up). PodTree has redirected it to us, which is correct but it's in your directory twice […]

@dave is there anyway inside PI or Podping to see how many podcasts feeds a provider is sending or has submitted? I want to make sure our PodToo customers are coming through correctly. Thanks

@james the advertising ID is part of trade desks uid2. It was announced back in 2024. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20241211734654/en/iHeartMedia-Announces-Adoption-of-Unified-ID-2.0-Through-Integration-with-The-Trade-Desk-to-Enhance-Audio-Advertising/ CRA is using that from our […]

@james in your knowledge how many episodes will Apple Podcast try and download in one go, we are talking milliseconds here please.

We just had to restart the PodToo Feed servers, due to an error in fetching m4a files. That issue has now been resolved.

@samsethi @james PodToo just got smarter, we now actively block IP addresses who send try and access different mp3 files one after another.

IAB is not worth it in my opinion @Todd_Blubrry because it’s a cost with no reward. VAST suppliers still deal with us.

Well what a day, we moved Afrojack from Blubrry to PodToo and BOOM all this traffic started hitting our servers, a lot of them where scrappers and bots. While we did see a server slow down, our system stayed up and was able to handle the traffic. We […] [Original post on podcastindex.social]
