Gosh, thx for sharing - I missed the 2023 reform (as Auslandsdeutsche of 25+ years I'm not allowed to vote anymore, so I admit I didn't keep up with the latest changes). I'll be awaiting results with bated breadth and see what Annette Dittert shares here on BlueSky.

I'd love to get your take on it. It's more complex and layered than most people realise. But I wouldn't want it any other way - I always felt my vote and views counted. I grew up in Germany and was taught at school how the political system works. Part of the curriculum, for very good reasons.

"Bringing 'spark' to work and life" - what a lovely way to describe our efforts of making a difference. Thanks for including me in this illustrious group, Steve.

That's music to my ears. One of my top 5 Strengthsfinder talents is "maximiser". I love taking things from good to excellent (very handy when you work in careers). But it's also a standing joke in our team when my maximiser takes over. Sometimes even I have to admit: good enough will have to do.

It's so rewarding to see our mentees move forward, often courageously, in a nurturing environment. As mentors we can see their struggles, their tenacity and their progress so easily - and sometimes they just need reminding how far they've come. And far they go, every single time.

Put yourself forward to become a mentor. Get mentored once or twice first, then start your mentor journey. So many organisations (like my employer) provide excellent support in helping you become a capable mentor. Mentoring is good for the mentee, good for the mentor, good for an organisation.

Sure Jenny - I'll send you a DM with my work email, if that's okay. We can then set up a call soon.

Because you have all that info at your finger tips - for ANY university across the world - and you can see all the real people and their real career choices instantly. So he is now thinking about integrating LinkedIn data and profiles into their Open Days.

I use the LinkedIn alumni function extensively with our researcher community to explore career options and career paths of people in their field. A colleague in the Languages Department and I had this Aha moment: it's an ideal tool to show sceptical parents what you can do with an English degree.

It is rare for a researcher developer and a postgraduate researcher to do a piece of research together. But the stars aligned. Marianne has driven our research project from the REDs conference presentation to our joint workshop for mature PGRs. Bravo! TY for your support @whiteroseuc.bsky.social!

What I ❤️ about my library (S6 in #Sheffield) - a serene and peaceful space to read, think, write - a wide range of books to discover - super friendly, helpful staff - comfortable chairs - noticeboards with community news and events - convenient online service if I can't pop round #LoveLibraries

There are days when I think: wouldn't it be nice to be a dog 🤣?
