I think that you may be the person in this conversation with a very high estimation of the intricacy and noteworthiness of their beliefs, but I don’t know you well enough to be sure so we’ll leave it at that!

You aren’t engaging with me as a human being. You’re engaging with me as if I am a representative of a hive mind that collectively forgives all the sins of the United States and thinks it’s perfect. Just based on me asking you a question, without knowing anything else about me.
Maybe that’s...bad?

“This type of liberal”
You’re talking to a human being. My name is Ryan.

Who is “they?” You don’t know anything about me. I asked you a simple question and it appears that, instead of attempting to answer it, all you can do is try to shame me as the other to your followers.

Can you name an era of human civilization worth defending? When exactly did humans get this whole thing right in your mind?

Because anyone I like and think is cool must also think exactly the same way I do about everything

He came VERY close to doing the Judge Dread line “I am the law!”
Stopped himself just short but also said something that is wrong and unconstitutional, “we are the federal law.”

One of the most effortlessly funny and kind humans I have ever had the pleasure of knowing (for a time that was all too brief). No DMs on here but I’d shoot you a note if I could, Scott. Thank you for posting.

Squinting so hard that I could barely make out that the Pistons without Cade scored 42 points in the first quarter.

2016 was mostly a shock followed by years of efforts to blunt the impact of it happening. “Our Brexit” really started the moment that Biden was elected and the entire country started brain damaging itself to memory hole 2016-2020 and create the conditions that led to Trump being reelected.

You have to maintain a high level of “America bad”-signaling in all posting to keep your membership in certain loosely associated groups of posters On Here (and, formerly, on There).

Very watchable. Last episode was a mild groaner that ended with another British TV show trope- straight from a high body count shootout to rediscovering the holiday spirit with a quickie Christmas episode conclusion!

They haven’t governed for one second in decades. Only obstruct and put on theater for the cameras.
No surprise that they’re happy to give up all their power. They wouldn’t even know how to use it if they tried.

Why does the text of a bill that has no chance of passing matter? You seem both sure it is symbolic and ineffective but also certain that the milquetoast language of the bill is an indication that the democrats…don’t care? Don’t want this to stop?
comment in response to

It’s symbolic and the GOP will vote against it, proving that they are complicit…

It’s one hell of a needle to thread but I hope we can buy some time to reverse some of this damage.

Fully agreed. I don’t know what can be done to stop this other than for this to play out with social unrest and in the (compromised) courts.
I wish there were magic words or actions that senate dems could string together right now to stop this but they don’t enforce the laws.

It’s also threatening them with a good time! They want the destruction!

No, symbolic bills won’t get it done. But it is funny that the people looking for symbolic actions are also unhappy with symbolic action.
Re: the debt ceiling, causing the US to default on all its obligations is not going to fix anything and will, in fact, make all this much worse.

Is the One Weird Trick to fixing everything “messaging?” Or has the time for talking ended?
comment in response to
post
If the time for talking has concluded then why are you arguing with me in the replies to a yet another post from a prominent media member laying the blame on the feet of Democrats for a failure of “messaging?”
Shouldn’t you be replying to the OP, and not me?

They’re winning by engaging in behaviors that rot the foundations of human civilization. If following them down that road is the only way for us to win, any result that we could achieve would be a short-lived phyrric victory. The truth has to matter. If it doesn’t, all bets are off.

And that works because the majority of their voters are credulous rubes who invite misinformation that fits with their worldview.
comment in response to

It’s called “lying,” not “messaging.” They are masters of lying and inventing their own reality TV show for their voters to follow along with.
