A fair catch kick

I have maintained for a long time that every movie with “and the” in the title would also be an amazing band name (like Percy Jackson and the Olympians or Ant Man and the Wasp)….But now there’s ONE exception.

Great inside look on how the Simpsons NFL game came together.

Congrats to my students for getting through an 8am final this morning. Now go back to sleep.

[youth pastor strums guitar] Can I tell you about someone who is in the top .01% of listening to you

"Who do you like in this week's games, Mina?" "Well, I like the 49ers because they're pure of heart, Seattle because they got something to prove, and the Raiders because they always cheat."

“We don’t have to watch Simpsons Football, do we daddy?” “You betcha. Simpsons Football will keep you away from temptations like rock music and girls.” “Yay!!!”

I bet this video is even funnier if you watch it without knowing what company it is advertising until the end when you see the flag flapping.

How amazing must that videographer feel to have captured this shot.

My sister found this Star Trek Enterprise D Christmas ornament in my mom’s things. The light-up warp nacelles don’t work anymore, but thankfully the Hallmark box it came in says that it is under warranty until December 1995, so I should be good. #StarTrek

Best wishes to you and yours as you enjoy your Burned Replicated Bird Meat today.

"[T]here’s no endgame that offsets the self-sabotage of these filings. “No amount of money in the world is worth the reputational harm that Drake is causing to himself by filing these suits,'”

Whenever I see a "make sure you have something for little kids like chicken nuggets at your Thanksgiving dinner" post on social media, all I can think is how much my non-little kid self would absolutely destroy a platter of nuggets before I even noticed there was a turkey on the Thanksgiving table.

If these people don’t show up at my house in brown jumpsuits and proton packs with a plunger connected to it, I would be so disappointed.

For a couple years, @sarahjeong.bsky.social has asked “what is the bad art friend of tech?” Well, @miasato.bsky.social found the answer: a rivalry/lawsuit between two influencers that tests the legal protections of being extremely basic.

The copyright lawsuit against Miley Cyrus “deserves to be dismissed—but not for the reasons laid out in a new motion filed this week by Cyrus and her co-writers.”

Only four 7-10 splits have been converted in televised pro bowling and only one of those was in high def.

Optimist: The cup is half full. Pessimist: The cup is half empty. Entertainment Lawyer: How much is the cup getting filled on the back end?

“Bluesky seems to have a real shot at becoming the next big place to get the pulse of the internet”

When things enter the public domain, we’re allowed to make stuff with it other than “let’s do thing but make it absolutely fu@king terrifying.”

2006 Ryan would have defended this song to the absolute death.

I can't be the only one who didn't even know that there was a Scott Pilgrim anime on Netflix until Netflix announced that it was canceling it. This seems to happen a lot with their shows.

I often struggle to find good publications that are dedicated to covering the creator economy from the perspective of informing creative professionals. But Passionfruit really hits the mark. It is now regular reading for me @passionfruit4us.bsky.social passionfru.it?_sp=87e09dbd...

Usually on Break the Business we discuss the important issues of the day facing indie creators, but sometimes we do the equally important undertaking of playing "Is it the name of a hipster bar or a yacht rock song?" with our guest Nicholas Niespodziani of Yacht Rock Revue.

This copyright case (which looks like it is heading for a swift dismissal) offers a great discussion of the “scenes a faire” doctrine: Elements of a copyrighted work are not protectable if those elements are customary to a particular genre.

Happy to be joining Bluesky! I'm looking forward to joining conversations about: 🎧 Empowering and informing indie creators ⚖️ Entertainment, copyright, and education law and policy 🏈 How my South Florida sports teams will continue to break my heart 🖖 How my ninth viewing of DS9 is coming along
