Ramadan Mubarak to all acknowledging around the world. First fast starts tomorrow. First prayer is tonight. May the fast be easy and spiritually beneficial. Enjoy your family and communities.

It is possible for lots of people to live close together comfortably, with a high quality of life. But it's not possible if they all have cars.

I think there's a good chance that Trump heard the US was a "liberal democracy" and set out to destroy it because he's confused that "liberal" has different meanings.

It seems my days of only logging into Skype every 6 months to maintain the calling credits I bought 15 years ago are coming to an end. www.theverge.com/news/621353/...

Not an original take here, but a plurality of voters in Ontario have once again endorsed a government that, as @alexusherhesa.bsky.social puts it, is invested in eating the future. What Ontario conveyed tonight to its young adults: "we have no interest in your future, and you should leave."

The bottom line is that the PCs will do huge damage to everything we care about with another 4 years of majority. But it is interesting that they did worse than projections, even with intentionally picking a low voter turnout time for an election. #OnPoli

Doug Ford celebrates majority win by demolishing closest hospital

With us doing our job in #KitCen pretty comfortably, this is the riding I still care about.

Well, on the bright side… If you subtract the $200 cheques the private Ontario Place spa only cost us $200 each.

Always believe that better is possible. Because it is. And you deserve it.

I really don't have any desire to watch the #OnPoli election results. It seems likely it will be called pretty early in the most depressing way and I really only want confirmation that we're keeping our great Green MPP.

Once again, Elon is reinventing the thing he first moved to destroy, and doing so in a dumber, less efficient way. We see this over and over and over again.

Doug Ford says he needs a “mandate” to govern and respond to Trump, but his party won’t let its candidates debate and is counting on winning a majority with less than half the vote from a 35 percent turnout. So very democratic!

As much as Doug Ford wants us to believe this election is about tariffs and the economy, it's clear he wanted this election well before Trump was elected. And he picked the dead of winter, hoping he could just coast into a third win. Get out and vote today to prove him wrong. #ONpoli

This is something helpful to remember in a lot of areas: most things aren't all or nothing. Reducing something bad is still a lot better than declaring there's no point because you can't cut it entirely.

Pass it on!

Bezos emailing the Rings of Power team to tell them that the One Ring is good now.

Bezos trying to get into the race with Musk and Zuckerberg for who can pull off the biggest smash and grab at the expense of democracy.

Good morning, beloved. Darkness can never extinguish light. It’s always the other way around. Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

Only 6.1% of eligible voters went to advance polls. Which is not that surprising for 3 days in a tough winter for an election that the ruling party doesn't even really want people to know is happening and with voter cards not even delivered yet to many of us. #OnPoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

i keep seeing the right argue that the nazi salutes are "trolling." i think there's some truth to that, but know what exactly is being mocked. they aren't mocking the idea that they could be nazis, they're mocking the idea that they should care one way or the other.

Hard to imagine how counterproductive this would be. It would dramatically increase threats to the US, given shared role in continental/cyber defence. But given many of Canada’s key contributions relate to Russia, & you don’t see Russia as a threat anymore… A reckless and dumb trade tactic.

Calls to “keep politics out of the pulpit” almost always come from those whose power and wealth would be the most threatened by the liberative demands of the Cross on behalf of the poor and the oppressed.

Waterloo Region residents braved the elements over the weekend to take part in the annual Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk, an event aimed at raising awareness and funds for homelessness, hunger and poverty.

I dream that one day drivers will give me as much space on the road on my bicycle as they do a discarded cardboard box.🙏

You love to see when candidates are realistic and make a decision for the common good instead of trying to slightly advance their own brand.

Loved John Oliver's episode on Meta and content moderation, including an acknowledgement of some alternatives: Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Signal. He (his writers) did a great job on challenges of moderation but also how Meta has now declared "fuck it, we're going back to promoting genocide."

Also wrote about the John Oliver episode and how it was basically a much funnier, more well produced version of a bunch of Techdirt articles from recent years. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/24/j...

By rights Doug Ford going ahead with Starlink should cost him the election. It’s like handing the guy who keeps threatening to rob your house the keys to your van.

Captain Canada (Douglas "Just call me Doug Folks" Ford) failed to save Canada. We need a new Captain. Time to pitch the old one. Oh look! There's an election this week. How handy of an opportunity that is.

Props to the Green candidate in Waterloo endorsing the NDP to prevent vote-splitting. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Good morning, beloved. Some things, we can’t control. Others, we can. Knowing the difference is wisdom. Today is a great day to overcome evil with good.

A fresh perspective on how “turn the other cheek” does not necessarily make you a doormat; it can lift you out of victim hood and empower your non-violent resistance. It doesn’t take a grand gesture to make a difference. Every little bit contributes to Infinite Resistance ∞Ω
