In-store is definitely the move. I preordered my first Switch from GameStop’s website and I had to wait all day to get it delivered, it sucked. Now that I preordered directly at the store I can walk right in on launch day and grab it, or go to the midnight event and get it. So excited

It seems like the Switch 2 is pretty easy to get a hold of. I’m liking this very much.

Oh shoot I just saw an internal document from GameStop and I guess for consoles you need to put $50 down. Games and accessories can be $5 tho

You are correct. You can keep going in until launch and put more money down towards it too. $10 here, $20 there, etc etc. you could have the whole thing paid off in small increments by the time June 5th comes around or make your total due at pick up very small.

I just wanna know why every time a streaming show gets a physical release it has to be a steelbook for some reason. Last of Us didn’t do that and I love them for it (they did a steelbook later but they didn’t exclusively go with steelbook).

Sadly this steelbook looks fantastic

Yeah I’m gonna need retailer preorders to go up before April is over. I need as much time as I can to make sure I can get one

This quote right here is incredibly telling. They specifically mention that carts included in physical “Switch 2 Edition” games are just Switch carts. They say the carts are playable on Switches.

I work at GameStop and I would just tell the person that we’re gonna do 2 transactions so that they can get the full trade-in credit lol

I mean yeah that’s how that would work

That’s incredibly valid lol glad he’s not at the helm anymore

Oh no. Those don’t look good at all.
I guess I’ll just have to get used to it

Someone had to do it first. It was going to happen eventually. With inflation and the rising cost of game development it was inevitable. Just because Sony took the plunge first doesn’t mean it’s their fault.

Not a fan of the animation tbh but even so the game looks very cool, I’m actually really excited for this one.

The way the demonstration showed it, it looks like when you transfer a digital game cartridge to another system it leaves the system you transferred it from. So it’s actually like you handed someone a physical game cartridge, only it’s virtual.

I’m sure that you’ll be able to set a system as your primary console where all your games live, and when you upgrade to Switch 2 you can just make that one your primary console. PlayStation does that with their PS5s.
You shouldn’t have to constantly lend your Switch 2 your digital games.

Hell yes I knew it. I took that day off of work just to make sure I was prepared for this.

Nah it’s 10 AM EST. You add 3 hours because EST is 3 hrs ahead of PST, not subtract.
Also it says it on the picture lol

I was holding on to my Twitter account for so long because there was a video of my late cat on it that I wanted to get downloaded to my phone before I nuked it forever. Found the video on my old phone and deactivated my account last night. He will no longer get ad revenue from me.

With all due respect Mr. Weekes (it’s a lot of respect) if you release an album with only 7 songs on it I will go to the nearest bowling alley on a league night and put my head behind the pins.
I’d much prefer waiting longer for longer albums. Just my personal opinion.

Anyway I bought a reproduction of the Sonic Rush OST CD for $20 from there and I’m so fucking stoked. Now all they’re showing me is Sonic posters and pins and whatnot and I kind of want all of it

Everything they’re doing is well within the law and is pretty standard for every other workplace I know. I get that. And I still feel very privileged to work at a place that pays us through our meal breaks because that’s so rare these days. I just wish it didn’t go down like this.

My only real problem with this is management shouldn’t have hidden it from us. These changes were coming and they told no one, and when employees started noticing things were different and asking questions they told us that things would be the same as they always had been and not to worry.

So for the first pay period of this new method, we were still taking the same extended lunches we were used to taking before this change occurred. So unknowingly we just weren’t getting paid.
comment in response to
post
Well now when we’re paid out for our meal breaks, the payout isn’t determined by calculating the difference in time between punching out and back in. It’s a flat .5 hour rate. So those extra 3-4 minutes we would take on our lunches are unpaid. Which is reasonable, I get it. Except we weren’t told.

One final downside to the new structure is how it affects the duration of our meal breaks. Management used to encourage taking slightly longer meal breaks because they would rather our breaks be a little long than having us accidentally punch back in too soon and violate our meal break.
