Perhaps not coincidentally, there was some discourse on here last week shitting on the concept of mutual aid as a replacement for government services. It isn't really for that, but what it would be great for is getting our communities through a time of mass, sustained protest or work stoppage.

I don't blame these people understanding the immediate precarity of their jobs and housing, but I do have criticism for them lashing out at people either (a) telling the truth, or (b) doing the work of real change.

It's basic cognitive dissonance and bias towards normality. Very similar to the climate change issue. Once a person understands the implications of the scientific consensus, you'll get a ton of pushback because people simply aren't willing to undertake the radical restructuring required.
