I use a paid search engine now (Kagi) and it’s been a lifesaver for my job. And it’s nice being the customer instead of the product

Really! The kneejerk reaction (exasperation at iMark for not standing aside for oMark’s “greater” love) is intentional: people think of innies as disposable, to be tossed aside once they’ve played their part, because we see them as less real. The show asks us: are they? And why do we think that way?

Seems like you’re under a decent amount of stress these days, so it’s really not a big deal! I’ll send along the order number since you offered, but there’s no expectation attached

You noted random doodles this time, so holding out hope you did one for That Weird Guy Who Always Requests Fennecs
(And if not that’s totally cool also. You’ve got a lot on your plate)

With the exception of gas stations, just do this all the time.
I know there are a few people in small towns whose only groceries or supplies option is a big box store, but for most of us it's surprisingly easy if you try. You can live without Amazon and Walmart, I promise

Sent and cancelled nitro. What a tedious dance we’re going to have to do with various companies every few months until we’re dead

You don’t /need/ carts or dedicated devices (you can download an emulator and ROMs to your computer right now!); it was merely an example to show that exact AND user-friendly preservation is already here
comment in response to
post
I guess I’m confused: what kind of quality are we not getting today? I have a couple Analogue devices that can pipe frame-perfect HD output to my TV from original carts or ROMs. How is AI going to improve that?
Or are you talking about remakes / remasters when the discussion is about preservation?
comment in response to
post
Wait, so instead of hiring devs to work on game preservation, your aspiration is that they they shit out imperfect recreations with AI and then use that money to … maybe hire devs?
Microsoft makes most of its money from Office + server products + windows. This isn't gonna put them in the poor house
comment in response to
post
But why, though? Preservation has already been possible for decades via emulation (and more recently the flawless hardware duplication of FPGA). Imagine burning the resources that AI requires for a worse version of what we already can do. What would it accomplish? What would it add?

Ah shit sorry, I deleted it to add one with a video link. But yeah, it was funny watching it with my folks, too. They're pretty liberal but still in an older age bracket, so it was a lot of the usual stuff ("why doesn't he wear something nicer?", etc)

If there are any kerning pairs, the kerning is probably negative; it probably has filled counters; it has no leading at all (or, the baseline to baseline distance is the character height, or, the vertical ascent and descent are both zero). But for the overall style, dunno!
comment in response to
post
Not sure the style has a specific name! You could describe some of its attributes with specific terms, I guess: the glyphs have no sidebearings; the advance width of each character equals the width of the glyph, and likewise for height, aka the bounding box is right up against the glyph; (cont’d)

Editing is tricky, because if, for example, someone reposted the thing, it means they endorse it enough to put it on their own feed. If that can be edited, the contents of their feed may change without their knowledge or consent, possibly maliciously.
In the meantime, just proofread instead
