Artsy being from another planet. Possibly a cephalopod, but definitely not a mammal. PSA: Blocking people isn't censorship, it's deciding that you don't want to stand next to that asshole at a party. Yes, I will simply block you if you're an asshole.

Every time I board a plane, i secretly hope we will be intercepted by aliens and fly off into the universe having adventures on distant planets.

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

Mad respect to Sheryl Crow! Not only get rid of her Tesla but she donated the proceeds to NPR, an organization I support and listen to nearly every day.

Currently working on artwork at my neighborhood library. Looking around, there are at least 40-50 people perusing shelves, using computers, reading or studying. Tell me again how people don't use libraries anymore.. #protectlibraries #publiclibrary #librarysupport #library #librarylove

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn

In a world that is increasingly anti-intellectual and anti-education, one of the most defiant acts you can commit is to make education, learning, curiosity and creativity at priority in your life. Don't let ignorance, narrow-mindedness, anti-education and misinformation win. #education #progress

There are times in your life that you may flip the table, and there times that the table flips you.

Mind control is real. 😅

Feelings are Facts: Love, Privacy, and the Politics of Intellectual Shame, by Meredith Whittaker I highly recommend listening to her talk about redefining privacy beyond data, confronting intellectual shame and placing love at the center of our understanding of privacy media.ccc.de/v/38c3-feeli...

I love this idea. These are the heroes our world needs. One of the most fascinating aspects of fungi is the mycorrhizal relationship certain species develop with other organisms. Even better when they are edible fungi!! #funji #mushrooms #environmentalscience #science www.wired.com/story/how-ch...

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends: 1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration; 2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you; 3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Posting birds. Because, that’s what I do sometimes. #birding #birdphotography #birdphotos

Otters and books. This was the combo I did not know I needed. #otters #books #reading

Tired of the toxicity of social media? This was an interesting conversation about how we use social media and if it's time to step away. (Yes, I realize the irony of posting this on social media) #toxicsocial #socialmedia #technews #quitsocialmedia www.wired.com/story/uncann...

I struggle with subscription models. Many online services rely on ad revenue, the evils of which should be obvious by now. Alternately, with so many subscriptions to pay, users enter into what I call "subscription hell" where we are bled dry just to use services. We need more alternatives.
