I had Norpoth as a professor and he walked into class after 2022 elections and said “maybe I shouldn’t do this anymore :(“

You are comparing post-war Libya to pre-war Libya and ignoring at war Libya to make your dumb point. Sorry your favorite dictator got what he deserved! I only hope it happens to every other tyrant!

He definitely did

I believe they found a bunch of no Kings signs in the assassin’s car. So it makes sense to tell everyone to avoid demonstrations since those are seemingly his next target.

“Those poor germans would not have done the holocaust if they had free healthcare” wow okay good take guy, any other wisdoms you wanna bestow upon us tonight?

Guy I was talking to in Instagram comments about this went “our enemies do it why can’t we?!” Lol Like cmon man, even the people who want this know the implications.

If you're going to escalate things to forcing those in uniform to decide whose orders to follow, you better be extremely confident about which way that'll go, and it's just not the case as things stand they would have sided with Newsom over DOD and POTUS.

Watching the bipartisan public trust of the military get obliterated in 20 seconds in my very own household.

Yeah my respect for these guys just plummeted. Bunch of meatheads who don’t believe in anything but cracking skulls. That’s what I just saw on tv. Remember your oath for god’s sake!! What are we doing man

When Biden came into office at the end of Jan 2021, 39% of schools were still fully virtual. Within 3 months only 5% were. You wouldn’t know this from the five-year anniversary discussions of the pandemic, which continually refer generally to long-term closures. about.burbio.com/school-openi...

I don’t actually think we should get rid of universal suffrage btw. But the amount of contempt I feel for uneducated populists exponentially increases everyday. And I at least *rhetorically* don’t think they should participate in this system they don’t understand and want to destroy.

You’re staying liberal, you’re just becoming less democratic. Which like yeah, I think we all are, at least vibes wise. Like should someone who can barely read have the same vote as me? Some of our ideological heroes didn’t think so. I used to think them misguided, now, not too sure.

I did history and poli sci for my undergrad and there just wasn’t a culminating assignment for the poli sci major lol

Unfortunately yes for most of our history since him. Large swathes of America respect thuggish brutes I guess 🙃

I’ve never really had a bad experience with any doctor. They’ve all been very kind and competent when dealing with me. However, many of the med students over at my school are some of the most cut throat, mean-spirited people I’ve ever met. The profession can have some real bad apples.

Ah my bad

I don’t think you’re wrong but I do think they’re very specially referencing the American civil war with that comment. I don’t think they think an independent Puerto Rico would lead to a race war.

it's genuinely so crazy to me that anybody's take on COVID starts with anything other than "holy fucking shit a million Americans died"

It’s 2 years at most. Midterms= impeachment. Could very well be sooner though.

Tbf I think a lot of this stuff isn’t critical thinking, it’s just repeating stuff they read online/ in one book without thinking about what that means and how it’s being presented to them.

Hoping societal collapse happens before I’m too busy with student teaching in the fall 🙏

No it’s not. That’s the subtext of the post.

But a lot of Marxist historians believe in an almost prophetic version of history where overarching “systems” spawn and eventually die. Will has often argued against this. If it makes you feel better liberals have their own version of this. But I’d guess Will is pretty critical of whig history too

He’s just saying that life isn’t a movie with a 3 act structure. Which a lot of Marxists fail to understand. Marxist history is good in that it can often provide insight into how common folk were living at certain points in time. And how their lives affected the way they thought and acted…

Not what he’s saying.

A lot of this might be negative polarization against the eternal lockdown psychos I dunno

There is no world where the response to COVID isn’t disruptive. This is not the fault of democrats or teachers or Dr Fauci or whoever. It is a given in a situation like that.

They think schools should have never closed and seem to be under the impression that the only reason they did was due to a cabal of lazy teachers who wanted to stay home and influenced policy so that they could

Yeah true!!

I do think Punisher stuff usually does a good job at letting you know he sucks, but also understands that you want to see him go wild. And how that looks is Daredevil saying “aw shucks Frank knock it off,” as he takes a guy’s head off.
comment in response to post
Yeah, Frank lecturing cops using his logo and methods doesn’t work because like…. He’s the exact same guy as them. You can’t just point that out and then have him keep being the Punisher. But also it’s really fun to watch him tear through people lol.
