Fuck this "Canada as 51st state" framing. Why are we allowing the narrative to be set in this way? The framing should be "America starting an illegal war with Canada" because THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

"Unfortunately, rather than be shocked by each time Trump or one of his closest allies utter something openly authoritarian, we need to take a step back and realize that the Republican Party has become an authoritarian political party."

Independent analysis by The Local found at least 31 of 45 approved school projects appeared to be in Conservative ridings. And not a single project in the TDSB, the biggest board with a massive repair backlog. thelocal.to/ontario-educ...

Someone sent me this in response to a post I made on ‘JAQing’ off - Just Asking Questions and how disingenuous this truly is. Adding false equivalency (both-sideism) to it does not make for good journalism. These are critical times and our approach HAS to be thoughtful. Please do better.

With major outbreaks occurring in the US & Canada, many have been asking about the MMR vaccine & whether it can be offered earlier to protect children. In short, yes, depending on whether you’re living in an area with local outbreaks or traveling and of course age. See infographic below for more.

Report: CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA! CANADA!

Excellent news! PHAC has secured an initial supply of 500k doses of GSK’s human avian flu vaccine – ArepanrixTM clade 2.3.4.4b. Health Canada authorized this on Feb 18, 2025. NACI has not recommended broad deployment, but has identified considerations for when it could be used for key populations.

Actually we all learn some French in every Canadian province so are all capable of saying, “Va chier”

“I never thought antivaxx policies would be put first in MY state,” sobs man who single-handedly cleared the way for antivaxxers to dictate health policy for the entire country

Top USAID officials are trying to create a false narrative that life-saving aid has continued despite Trump’s blanket halt to foreign aid. Our @nytimes.com reporting shows the exact opposite. USAID even issued an internal email to stop applications for waivers: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

I had ChatGPT make me a Valentine’s Day card and it turned out super cute!!

Who is ready for some good news to brighten this horrific week? I needed to work on something more hopeful, so I put together some vaccine developments that I think are very promising!

What an utterly delusional article by PBS.

Why you simply can’t reason with some people…

Such an odd way to make America healthy again. Yes, let's cut down all scientific research and close down labs and institutes. Those of you who argued about RFK and Trump making things safer for you and your kids, how is this going to make things better? www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

Insane how quickly the racist regression is happening in this country. Decades of progress being undone in weeks, without even any laws having to be passed. Just sheer intimidation from Trump and the right, and sheer cowardice from the corporations.

Watching things unfold the last few weeks, I am more upset watching people fold like a house of cards for Trump and Elon. So many disappointments, people putting profits over morals/ethics/integrity. Not all skin folk are kin folk.

PSA: Vaccine side effects can occur, but severe reactions are extremely rare. A vaccine only gets approved if the benefits outweigh all risks, minor or severe, at a population level.

So proud of my husband, Craig, for speaking out and taking a stance against hate. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/art...

There's "being wrong in early in a pandemic" wrong and then there's "doubling down over and over again until you find yourself in bed with RFK Jr. and founding a whole-ass journal to discredit all of academic publishing along with all of medicine" wrong. publichealth.realclearjournals.org

If you're online, you're inevitably seeing vile misinformation & hate about Indians in Canada. Videos of Brampton captioned "Is this the GTA or India?", far-right conspiracies about 'replacement theory.' The Local's latest breaks down what we're seeing and, more importantly, why:

Staff at NSF have been instructed to go through active research projects to search for these key words & determine if they include activities that violate executive orders issued by Trump. Science cannot be muzzled. Scientific research should never be controlled by the government.
