All small societies I think relied on looking after those that, for whatever reason, couldn't fend for themselves. It is only as societies got bigger and more impersonal that those things fell by the wayside more and more.

I would go a step further, as a non-Christian. I think it is hard to have a coherent moral system without including at least some of the tenets of socialism.

This is one of my biggest annoyances in contemporary media, simultaneously claiming they need special protection/prestige because they hold power to account and also act like they're utterly without agency in how they choose to cover things. Pick one; if you want to pick 'useless' we owe you nothing

In contrast, there was only 36% approval for the state of the footpaths, and trust in the council's openness and transparency were at a dismal 21%

In ÅŒtautahi Christchurch in 2023/24, 95% or residents were satisfied with the libraries- the only things that they were more satisfied with were The Botanic Gardens, children's education programmes on civil defence and sustainability, and the partnership service for approving developments

So yesterday I went on my first bike ride in so long, and I had this total flashback to my childhood, like this emotional and physical muscle memory… it was so beautiful. All my worries melted away. And it’s so Efeso that this guided chance encounter was so good & wholesome. Thank you my friend.

And hearing about Eco Matters, who run the Bike Hubs, and having met and heard from one of their amazing staffers speaking to environmental racism at the WERO conference in Kirikiriroa earlier this month… … I bought a bike.

I was reflecting on how much Efeso was an advocate for public transport and walking, getting to know your hood, and the irony that his giant 5 storey high face is on a carpark building 🙃

The difference between the Centre and the Right (not just in US): when Centrists are out of office they settle down to wait until they get back in Rightists immediately commit to a program of causing maximum obstruction to the plans of the party in power

Standing there and saying that you're powerless...you're admitting WE are powerless. And nothing is farther from the truth. We elected you to represent us and what do you do? Roll over? Fuck that. And stop giving us up to the enemy ON NATIONAL TV.
